turns out, it's an absolute privacy nightmare, and that it sells access to what alt accounts someone owns without your consent or being legally allowed

I never really like, ~moralised~ to my kids about insects, but just from exposure to me they naturally came to see insects as moral subjects worth of respect and dignity. the natural way that my daughter shows concern for the interests of spiders and flies is one of the things I'm proudest of, even if it's illegible and invisible to anything the system would think of as "achievement". it's no small feat, to undo speciest programming in a society that normalises it.

USA companies and military using indigenous tribes, names, and general vocabulary to describe their products (especially war machines) are disgusting and should be called out. If you didn't get permission from the Apache people, you can't call your thing or software "Apache".

If you don't live here, you don't understand how quiet it is. It gets quiet enough in residential areas at night that you can hear a pin drop. If you pull up on a motorcycle outside of the city center after 21:00 everyone hears it. Its so incredibly loud and awful. As an autistic person I love how quiet this city is. Gas powered motorcycles (and of course cars) ruin it.

The Netherlands has given me a new found hatred of combustion motorcycles. They sound like ear piercing farts. I have no patience for them because they're not necessary. You can walk, bike, or take public transit here. You could even get an electric bike or motorcycle. Instead you sound like you have the meat farts from blocks away and you disrupt all conversation with your painful gas.
