lol the first thing the app asked for permissions access to was pasting from my clipboard.
Lolno. You’re not getting that unless I specifically want to paste something.
I highly recommend always reading “do you want to allow permissions to…” style messages and pressing no by default.
today i had a pretty sweet interaction with a trainspotter at Warsaw Central :3
I got out of the EC train from Berlin and saw a guy with a phone taking lots of pictures of the locomotive
apparently today was the last day PKP's EuroSprinter (EU44) locomotives were wearing the special christmas (advertising) livery and it was his last chance to catch it
we had a little chat and he seemed genuinely very happy that somebody approached him about this hobby. it brightened my mood too
In light of the government’s latest offer to the railway union, I just want to remind people…
If overtime is a constant thing in your workplace, then you need more workers. Or you need a fundamental rethinking of your employment scheduling and then probably more staff. People should not need to be asked to work extra days on a regular basis to cover the known workload, you should have leave coverage included in your staffing plan

If I had to describe my current mood, it would probably be something like "full of life, and craving for tasty food"
It's been a meme for a minute that ppl should appropriate like Midwestern white people slang like "hold it buster" the way they appropriate AAVE, but I have started seriously doing that and "buster" is an excellent, nearly gender neutral way to refer to someone in the second person.
Transdev will operate the bus services on the isles in the south of Zuid-Holland. The 20 hydrogen buses will remain in services, and there will be 67 new electric buses as well. These buses will have three features new in the Netherlands:
* Special system so deaf people can connect their hearing aid to the announcement system.
* Special spot for assistance dogs.
* Bibo: passengers who pay their trip with a digital OV pas, can have their pas automatic recognised by the vehicle, so they don’t have to use the validators in the vehicle.

Hello from post-surgery recovery room. Surgery was textbook, everything working, currently breakfasting with tea, cheese sandwiches, yoghurt/vla mix and lemonade. And laptop of course because I cannot sit still.
Doctors were - as per tradition - somewhat baffled about me going from "awake" to "fully functioning and conscious" in like 5 minutes. I asked if I got a recovery highscore (while reassuring them I don't intend to rush).
The answer: "you're definitely pretty close."
Hit me with examples of *manual computing*! Let's define it as *computing without electricity*. The abacus is one example. Using dice as RNGs or counters is another. But there are more subtle ways, like in @tendigits' post*, where there is some state and some knowledge required for a human to interpret that state. Board games are yet another example, where there is a set of rules, some changing state, represented by various game pieces, the players mutually observe that the rules are being followed, and the result is a winner. I keep wondering what other ends some board-game-like setup could be used for.

@welshpixie Thanks :D
Het grote voordeel van de meubelboulevard is dat je tussendoor even kan gaan liggen.
Verder geen voordelen.

Surgery expected to start in about an hour, they just came in for prep.
Not knowing that you're using AAVE is fine, if you've picked it up from some white person on TikTok or wherever, and nobody has told you otherwise.
You can't know something if you've never encountered it before. But once you HAVE that knowledge - and Dan has been called out many, many times on his use of AAVE - that's your cue to cut it out. If you don't, and continue with behaviour that you've been told is cultural appropriation, then you're being deliberately racist.
- suffered by Black folk, makes light of a culturally important and significant part of Black history.
If your argument is 'but language evolves! English is full of words borrowed from all kinds of different languages!', work on getting rid of that colonial, white, mindset. We do not own everything and have no inherent claim to everything, and that includes other peoples' cultures, including when part of that culture is a specific language or dialect.

Since *many* people are unfamiliar with what AAVE is (African-American Vernacular English, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_Vernacular_English), and thus could not identify it in Dansup's posts that I linked to yesterday, here are the snippets of AAVE he used in each post;
From https://h-i.social/@poisonous/113742817594490441 , quoted at the top:
'they in my mentions', 'it be kinda' . Note the missing 'are' in the first example, and 'it be' instead of 'it is'. These are strong examples of AAVE.

Technical debt collector and general hype-hater. Early 30s, non-binary, ND, poly, relationship anarchist, generally queer.
Sometimes horny on main (behind CW), very much into kink (bondage, freeuse, CNC, and other stuff), and believe it or not, very much a submissive bottom :p
Feel free to flirt, but if you want to actually meet up and/or do something with me, lewd or otherwise, please tell me explicitly or I won't realize :) I'm generally very open to that sort of thing!
Further boundaries: boosts are OK (including for lewd posts), DMs are open. But the devil doesn't need an advocate; I'm not interested in combative arguing in my mentions. I am however happy to explain things in-depth when asked non-combatively.
My spoons are limited, so I may not always have the energy to respond to messages.
Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
