very dark humour, gun violence
my wife found a reddit thread that asked what people think of when they think of America and the top comment was "bullets per square child", and my immediate response was "I will not be implementing that one on @weirdunits".
every now and then i come back to this idea for a minecraft server where, rather than new players spawning at global world spawn, each player would be given a random, unique spawn point, suitably far away from every other spawn. to make it harder for players to meet up, the server would lie about the world coordinates (telling each player that their own spawn is close to (0,0)) and prevent chat messages appearing to players who are too far from the sender. but then, modded items would allow these restrictions to be overcome; say, a radio that can communicate with other radios over long distances, or a compass that points to the true (0,0).
the experience then would be a multiplayer server that starts singleplayer, with finding and meeting others - likely over very long distances - a major part of the arc of the game. i think it'd be interesting to see what people do with that.
now the sneaky thing is that you could hide this in some unrelated modpack or something: you think you're creating a singleplayer world, you're actually joining this secretly multiplayer one. i think that'd be a fun reveal (imagine exploring and coming across structures that look suspiciously like a player-built base!), but it would probably be against every terms of service so. maybe not worth it.
abuse in family against little kids
but even if you don't do those things, what matters more is your ability to be honest and admit your own mistakes and learn from them and not be a damn asshole. even the most unprepared parent who has these things is better than the most educated self-absorbed motherfucker who can't be bothered to care about anybody but themselves.
abuse in family against little kids
better yet — don't have fucking kids if you cannot 100% be sure you won't hurt them or abuse them. yes, even if you mean it well. think long, and think hard. educate yourself on child psychology, pedagogics and raising children. read on trauma. read on social issues — your kid might be trans or gay or neurodivergent or disabled or whatnot.
oh, difficult? yeah no fucking shit sherlock you have a life in your hands of course it's gonna be difficult.
The idea that UCLA can offer a course completely "AI" generated from top to bottom and advertise part of the virtue of this approach being preventing students from using chatGPT in their assignments is an unspeakably powerful indictment of how fucked up our educational models are.

Now that I have more followers, I'm reaching out again to say I'm looking for a Sami sensitivity reader to review about 850 words of a fantasy novel. Very happy to pay said reader and also happy to just have a chat about themes if reading/reviewing isn't possible.
@idlestate @djsundog It's only an "app" if it's on NeXTstep or descendants, otherwise it's sparkling computer programs.
Technical debt collector and general hype-hater. Early 30s, non-binary, ND, poly, relationship anarchist, generally queer.
Sometimes horny on main (behind CW), very much into kink (bondage, freeuse, CNC, and other stuff), and believe it or not, very much a submissive bottom :p
Feel free to flirt, but if you want to actually meet up and/or do something with me, lewd or otherwise, please tell me explicitly or I won't realize :) I'm generally very open to that sort of thing!
Further boundaries: boosts are OK (including for lewd posts), DMs are open. But the devil doesn't need an advocate; I'm not interested in combative arguing in my mentions. I am however happy to explain things in-depth when asked non-combatively.
My spoons are limited, so I may not always have the energy to respond to messages.
Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
