Planning to set up my own fedi instance soon, what's the current status of GoToSocial in terms of usability, featureset, compatibility, and so on?

The International Criminal Court in the Hague has issued arrest warrants against #Israel PM Netanyahu, former defense chief Benny Gallant, and #Hamas commander Mohammed Deif (who may have already been killed in a raid). Question for y'all about funding for #OSS and OSS development.

I'm looking for some, for different projects/reasons (maintenance, or new work), and I'm wondering if anyone has tips.

I already know of:

@nlnet
@sovtechfund

I just learned about:

Anything else?

Thanks!

(Appreciated: boosts, reposts, retoots(?), reblorbs, anything goes)

Do you ever work with <table>s and wish there was a CSS feature or improvement that doesn't exist?

I wrote about the 3 CSS features for tables that I'd like to see.

Fediverse Copyright folks: (@luis_in_brief @amye, @richardfontana et al):

When a presenter delivers a presentation at an event, and (with the consent of the presenter) that presentation is recorded and published to YouTube, who owns the copyright on the presentation?

Can the presenter remix (eg. post excerpts with commentaary) their presentation on their YouTube channel without authorization of the event organizers?

I'm sorry, there's an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and the Netherlands promises to *honour* it? I bet there's a story behind that.

i just discovered what the in operator does in JavaScript, and went through the five stages of grief

Generic descriptions don't convey the information or context sighted users get from the image. Examples like "election results," "group of people," "screenshot from Google," or "city skyline" may be technically be true, but they don't provide information and context.

so fuck it, i said. i will call myself by my name. i will dye my hair blue. i will abandon my deadname. i will jack off without shame to the porn i like. i will ask out that guy i wanted to. i will draw. i will play my guitar and write my furry queer stories. i will learn how to sew, how to fistfight, how to breakdance. i will finish that book i wanted to read. i will say things i believe out loud and won't hide anymore.

i was in a voice call with my family (real family, not blood family) today, and we were talking about life and i said "you know, i usually resign and just cry about it with no hope...but...so much shit in the world happened recently, and i was like, well if it is all going to shit, and there's no going back from that, well, then fuck it. i want to fight. i want to live and do what i want now, because who knows when else i will have that time?"

i find it funny how you can just inject hormones into yourself and your body is gonna be like that guy at the factory line meme and be like "i guess we're a woman/man now"

the bcachefs thing, abusive behaviour and CoCs

Honestly, every time you see someone claiming "I got banned for doing X and that is unfair/absurd!" your first instinct should be to go to the source and find the actual documented rationale for the ban, because 99 out of a 100 times it's going to be a *very* different story.

the bcachefs thing, abusive behaviour and CoCs

*looks at post by the developer defending himself*
*sees a reference to an incident in the Python ecosystem*
"Hm, that seems like an absurd reason to ban someone, I should probably check whether that incident actually happened as they claim"

(It did not happen as they claim in the Python case and there was the usual laundry list of CoC violations being reduced down to "all they did was X!", ie. the standard tactical abuser playbook)

sort of a subtoot

I am *really* not looking forward to The Usual Suspects misusing that "cookie parsing is broken" article to start pushing for centralized authentication systems and dangerously broken crypto like JWTs again, instead of recognizing that we just need to get cookie handling fixed

ai, programming discourse

@touk @cwebber

> I don’t get how you can see some of the world’s best programmers use a new technology to make them better at programming and shrug it off.

the world's best programmers have spent decades teaching me that our field serves power before anything else. all my work is conditioned by their enthusiastic embrace of rent seeking, the cloud, & totalized surveillance - building blocks for both the current AI state of affairs & a looming authoritarian nightmare.
