Looking for someone in #Seattle who is capable of soldering leads onto a few routers so we can access their serial ports. All of these routers are the same model, I even have an example router that has the TX, RX and Ground pins soldered.
Trying to debug mainline OpenWRT boot issues on this model of device, which is hard to do without seeing the device's log while booting up.

This is wild, a conference listed fake women speakers and when the legit speakers found out they started pulling out, then it turned out one of the fake profiles was also being used catfish style https://www.linkedin.com/posts/efong_gergely-orosz-gergelyorosz-on-x-activity-7134354325253877760-PXuq
A game like Factorio is full of optimization problems. Typically, there is pretty broad agreement among the playerbase on what the optimal solutions are for those problems - differences are usually motivated by optimizing for different attributes, or explicitly declared differences in personal preferences.
So then, why are similar optimization problems in the real world a constant source of conflict and (sometimes violent) disagreement? Why do we not see a similar 'convergence' onto a shared understanding there?
Please read if you are from a christian family/background (regardless of your personal/current religious practices/beliefs)! From a Jew who is honestly both exhausted and disgusted by people's behavior, CW for discussion of antisemitism, genocide, and the concept of antisemitism being appropriated to validate supporting genocide (which is both itself antisemitic and *attempting to validate supporting genocide*)
I want you to imagine this for a moment-
What if every time you posted anything relating to christianity, regardless of if it is an offhand mention of a family gathering, a silly Christmas shitpost like a 'Mariah Carey defrosting' meme, or even just saying 'merry Christmas to those who celebrate' day of, you had random people (or at least had to emotionally prepare for the fact there was a very real possibility people would likely) comment things like "wow, really?! you're posting about Christmas right now? when the USA, a majority christian country that has tons of leaders who claim to stand for christian values in their decisions is actively supporting and sending weapons to a country committing genocide? you are truly disgusting!"
Regardless of the fact the post never mentions support for the US governments actions on this or anything else. Regardless of if you have things in your profile or posts directly criticizing this specifically, of if you live in/were from/had ever been to the USA, or any other actually relevant factor to your views on that government action.
And no matter what you replied they would continue to insist your random mention of Christmas inherently implied support for those actions. And more people might join in. And it wouldn't just be about social media or followers- what if you knew countless people like you were being harassed, losing friends, losing social standing and work connections, even being sent death threats over posts with the mere mention of their Christian background in it?
That is something Jews (and Muslims, don't you dare twist this into an excuse for Islamophobia!) experience regularly at the mere mention of our religion, and many of us have our whole lives! I come from a big Jewish family which places a lot of importance on our Jewish heritage and culture, all of whom staunchly support Palestine- and that is in no way contradictory! The vast majority of Jews I have known in my entire life support the Free Palestine movement!
What the Israeli government is doing right now is genocide. The idea all Jews support it and anyone speaking against it is being antisemitic is a purposeful use of misinformation to gain public support (especially by governments and people that really only care about their own financial interests in the war and are therefore actively assisting that genocide), because it is way easier to get away with doing awful things for their own gain if they immediately shut down any and every criticism as being inherently antisemitic and scare others away from being vocal (especially other politicians and powerful groups) with the clear threat of being labeled bigots.
There are countless Jewish organizations, religious leaders, professors of Judaism, and individuals putting forward statements supporting Palestine, reaching out to their governments, and participating in activist movements loudly and openly fighting against the actions of the Israeli government! The people spreading this lie and purposefully erasing that are using care more about taking advantage of the concept of Jewishness and antisemitism as a tool to silence others matters more than respecting our clearly stated beliefs about our own religion! THAT is antisemitic!
Don't buy into this bullshit, and don't attack random Jews for acknowledging their religion in ways that have nothing to do with the Israeli government's actions. Hannukah is in early December this year and I and other Jews should not have to be afraid to mention it for fear of harassment. Don't contribute to it and if you see it- step up and do something! Stand up for them directly, talk to your admins about having rules that support Jews in your online community, and please educate yourself and others (the burden of education should not fall on the Jews who are already dealing with this harassment!).
And for the love of god support the Free Palestine movement! No killing of innocent people is okay, but equating the actions of a terrorist extremist group with an entire demographic is absurd and claiming the creation of and actions of extremists in response to an ongoing genocide somehow justifies the ongoing atrocities of the genocide is absolute bullshit.
I am too tired to give a full list of resources right now but there is a good info to start to understand the harms of the state of Israel and the concept of anti-zionist Jews at https://www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org/resource/zionism/
-a Jew who is both exhausted and disgusted at all of this
Boosts appreciated! Any and everyone who comes into the comments with any kind of bigotry or 'but what about' bullshit will immediately be blocked and reported. I am not looking for feedback or a debate, I am sharing factual information and a view based on my own religious and moral beliefs. I do not care about your 'well actually' and will not engage with it.
Reminder that #AltText for images should always include all the text that appears in the image. Even if users use the "detect text in image" function, the results are often garbled. AltText is kind of pointless if all it says is something like, "Joke about AI" but doesn't tell you what the actual joke is.
computers under $200 for low-income folks in the US
PCs for People is having their biggest sale of the year this weekend, with refurbished laptops for $100-175 and refurb desktop PCs for $85-150 (free shipping unless you're in AK/HI/PR or have a PO Box).
To purchase from them, you'll need to provide proof that you're "currently participating in a government-based assistance program or have a qualifying household income (less than 200% of federal poverty guidelines or 60% of area median income)."
I'd spotted this rather striking diagonal track yesterday, but I couldn't get it the way I wanted with the lenses I had with me. Today I returned with my 200 mm Pentacon telephoto, and after a couple of tries (that's what this whole thing was about, right?) I got this shot.
IME most people blame themselves when the software they use is being genuinely awful, buggy, and badly made in such a way as to directly cause misery and lost work.
If they didn’t, then most devs working at Microsoft, Google, Apple, or Adobe would need a protective detail 24/7 and every week we’d be hearing news of yet another engineer murdered by an enraged user.
People have no idea just how badly we’re fucking up their lives. They just think they’re bad at computers.
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate y'all here.
One of my posts received a surprise retweet on Twitter yesterday, and it gained me some attention.
Nothing bad happened, but nearly every account which interacted with or followed me was either a blank profile or a chaser / person who fetishises trans people in an objectifying way.
Meanwhile nearly everybody I've had the pleasure of interacting with here has seemed like an actual person who I could see myself being friends with, not an anonymous manifestation of the concept of horny.
So, thanks for that!
Gotta do *something* when it's impossible to find 'proper' space for it... pretty excited to see where this goes, and whether it's a model that could be easily replicated on a budget elsewhere.
I would really like to see a return of freeshops as a widespread concept, it feels like there are not very many left, even though they've become more important than ever.
The plan: a removable tent construction attached to the front of my garage, spanning over the driveway, that can be set up every Saturday and keeps out any rain. The shop space will then span half my garage and most of my driveway, every Saturday.
All the cabinets will be on wheels; they will be compacted into the garage part of the shop space the rest of the week, and I will wheel them out and turn them into a 'corridor' on Saturdays.
Should also be relatively COVID-safe; there will be some side walls to keep out rain, but there should be enough 'open wall' for decent ventilation
In the process of moving to @joepie91. This account will stay active for the foreseeable future! But please also follow the other one.

Sometimes horny on main (behind CW), very much into kink (bondage, freeuse, CNC, and other stuff), and believe it or not, very much a submissive bottom :p

Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
