Iets dat ik door de jaren heen geleerd heb is dat je, ook als 
anarchist, de tijd moet nemen om het verhaal achter "goede wetten" (zoals consumentenrecht) te kennen, en dat aan anderen te vertellen.
Niet omdat het bewijs is dat een overheid werkt, integendeel; maar omdat een samenleving mét reactionaire politiek maar zónder kennis van wetgeving extreem kwetsbaar is.
Als niemand weet waar een wet goed voor is, en welke schade die wet voorkomt, dan is het heel gemakkelijk voor een afbraakkabinet om hem simpelweg af te schaffen of inert te maken zonder dat er een haan naar kraait.
En zo verlies je in een paar weken beschermingen waar mensen jarenlang voor gevochten hebben.
Natuurlijk is het uiteindelijke einddoel om van hierarchie af te komen, en dus ook van de overheid. Maar dat is een langetermijndoel; en op de korte termijn zijn deze beschermingen wel degelijk voor veel mensen belangrijk. Harm prevention en dat alles.
En om het even wat persoonlijker te trekken: in het verleden zag ik ook wetten als nutteloos, en ageerde er zelfs tegen, omdat ik niet op de hoogte was van waar de wet eigenlijk voor was, en hij nutteloos leek. Bij anderen kom ik dit ook vaak tegen.
We zitten echt op heel veel vlakken op het randje van afschaffing (ten faveure van kapitalisten, uiteraard), en bij sommigen al eroverheen.

I'm going to say this right away guys: Referencing is *NOT* bad in art, nor it's "cheating". Quite the opposite, its *mandatory* if you want your art to be good.
Reference, reference, reference. Always, every time you can. Believe me, your art will start improving *massively* once you start doing it. Every single professional artist will tell you they use references for their stuff.
Arting isn't a memory test or a memory competition. You can't draw well what you can't see.

🥰 So fulfilling! 🥰 A friend just brought their little daughter over to my place, because she had a journal with a 3 wheel combination lock on it, and she'd forgotten the combo.
I showed her how to decode it, and eventually she got it open! We changed the combo and locked it again so she could practice more.
After a bit, she was asking about other kinds of locks, so I happily brought out an assortment of antique and miniature locks from my collection.
A couple hours later they had to leave, and she was beaming! Today she had picked 2 warded locks, a pair of police cuffs, raked open a 4-pin tumbler, and decoded a combination lock!
I sent her off with a smiley yellow binder clip and a minuscule warded lock to practice on.
They asked to come back next week to learn more. 💜
I feel like the Yoda of lock-sport. 🙂

Update: Friend just texted me to say their daughter is thinking of starting a YouTube channel to document her growth in lock-sport, and wanted advice on gear/setup stuff.

wherever I go in the us I am reminded that the only people that count are people in cars and people not in cars might as well not exist. train station slash gift shop doesn't open until an hour after the train leaves. there is one train in each direction per day.
I am hungry but there is no one to open the shop.
Like, either your thing is a personal project or it is not. If you're running it like a tech company, it's a business, not a personal project.
Also for some reason this problem seems particularly prevalent among white dudes from Germany specifically.
Actually, to continue on from this, when I moved my blog to a static site generator I just didn't bother adding a comments section, instead prominently displaying my e-mail address.
And I still regularly get comments, including years later! But now they're well-specified, friendly, and constructive - almost without exception.
Also, this is an excellent argument for just not having a comments section
It occurs to me that the comment section under tech news is basically always an identical copy of the comments under articles of a similar topic over the past decade; there seems to be effectively zero collective development of understanding of topics, it's always the same tired old arguments over and over again.
Is this specific to tech folks or does it also happen elsewhere?
