I absolutely will judge you for not defederating from /#Meta, because it gives me a pretty good idea of how you would deal with a charismatic abuser in your community

I think the thing that tires me most about talking about the Voice To Parliament is finding palatable liberal media stories written by white folks that explain the points I'm making so that some of you secretly racist fuckers will actually just listen.

A Pinned Post of the topics I've threaded links about:

My office is ridiculous sometimes.

They just spent a significant amount of money to upgrade security. New maglocks, cameras, card readers, the works.

And yet the contractors just installed some doors backwards, and you can open them with a credit card.

project update, dlayer

An early example of what a dlayer module in a real-world project might look like: gist.github.com/joepie91/caee8

Love their "Corporate greed life cycle" image. We've all been through this cycle with tech companies that used to offer really cool products.

Let me tell you about Lois Curtis. a #DisabilitlyRights Icon

Lois Curtis is a Black womam with an intellectual disability who was the force behind the Olmstead Decision. she sued the Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Tommy Olmstead and the courts ruled in her favor that people with mental disabilites have a right to live in their communities instead of institutions, and have the right to live in the least restrictive setting possible

project update, dlayer

Slightly delayed, but I've pushed the code to its proper repo now :) git.cryto.net/joepie91/dlayer

It's also on npm: npmjs.com/package/dlayer -- but beware, there are no real docs yet, this is still a work in progress. API is not guaranteed stable yet, though there *is* an example in the misc folder in the repo.

Probably don't use this yet unless you're okay with living on the bleeding edge!

I did eventually manage to publish a package, about 4 single-use codes later

re: dlayer project update

I... I think the module system is basically done now?

For Mastodoners, did you know there's a setting to make your public posts available for search engine indexing in your profile settings? :boosts_ok_gay:

(also, PSA, this setting exists, and you should change it as you need!)

we definitely do have left movements, it’s just that the good ones don’t actually care much about electoral politics

dlayer project update

dlayer's module system now supports isolated per-module contexts: gist.github.com/joepie91/f3a0c

"contexts" here are similar to how they work in GraphQL, being some objects that are generated per-request for eg. deduplicating data source requests, except each module has its own context instead of it being global

Y'all, Meta isn't launching their Twitter alike in the EU because it would be _literally illegal there_ due to all the privacy and data collection issues they plan on having: independent.ie/business/techno

...and some of you want to federate with them?!?!

Meta snark

Imagine a future scenario where Meta has done something bad enough for you to defederate from it

Whatever that bad thing is

I'm sure that Meta has already done something worse

So—

Once again y’all’s FAVORITE bigot, DAVID HEINEMEIER HANSSON, is SHOWING you who he is but y’all REFUSE to check these mediocre, unremarkable white tech dudes who swear they’ve earned their places in society…also, don’t turn away from the blatant anti-Blackness in this post as he strategically furthers the “Black are holding Asians back” narrative…REMEMBER: ONLY WHITE SUPREMACY WINS THAT GAME 🫠

rollercoaster stuff, health

Also, it boggles my mind that with my current health issues, I can do that on such an intense coaster with zero issues, but a swing ride will make me almost pass out
