politics in general
The next time you encounter a political statement that appeals to unity (e.g.: "we're too divided in this country," or "no one just talks to each other any more"), it's worth taking a step back.
Look at the debate, and ask if one side is trying to get the other killed. That's the case with transphobia, pro-police rhetoric, anti-abortion rhetoric, and more.
It's fair and good to hold views like "I should not be killed," even if that view is extreme.
En ook nog een #bannerdrop! Mogelijk gemaakt door een stelletje klimmers, waarvan ik even niet weet onder welke groepsnaam ze door het leven gaan.

"Hand me that USB string" = bizarre weirdo talking
"Hand me that string of Christmas lights" = totally normal thing to say???
"Hand me that yarn of Christmas lights" = my spouse got annoyed at me calling her yarn "string" so I stopped and now she is more annoyed
personal abusee experience, re: some idle thoughts on social boundaries
I can tell you with years of experience in multiple abusive and manipulative relationships that the more you normalize this for yourself, the better off you are and the the better off others are.
Don't let yourself get sucked into feeling like if you leave you're hurting someone, or that if you stand your ground you're being irritating. If you *ever* feel either of those things in a relationship when setting a boundary for yourself, *please* understand that's the definition of abusive behavior. Folks who get better will accept they have done wrong and want to change and create solutions together. Abusers will double down and make you feel like you're the problem. Abusers will see that you are giving them chances and use that to continue their abuse rather than change. If there is no repercussion, why should they stop?
Normalize removing people from your life that harm you. You are doing them a service.
When a car is repaired after a crash, the GDP goes up.
When a fruit or vegetable is grown only to be thrown out by a supermarket as food waste, the GDP goes up.
When you replace a phone that still works because of planned obsolescence, the GDP goes up.
When you throw out a perfectly good coat because it's no longer fashionable, and buy a new one in this season's style, the GDP goes up.
When a bridge has to be replaced because it wasn't built right, the GDP goes up.
When a piece of packaging is manufactured only to be thrown away straight away, the GDP goes up.
When a site needs to be decontaminated because chemicals weren't stored correctly, the GDP goes up.
In each case, society has no more usable wealth than it would have had if the car didn't crash, the vegetable wasn't grown, the phone wasn't replaced, the old coat was still being worn, there was less packaging, or the chemicals were stored correctly. Yet the GDP goes up.
Meanwhile, most of the wealth that is generated ends up in the top one percent's pockets.
The truth is that GDP isn't a useful measurement. It's just a convenient one.
Since this point apparently still hasn't landed with some people:
Marginalized folks are under *no obligation* to 'educate' you about their situation, the bigotry that is levied against them, and so on. That is *your* job, not theirs.
At the very least, show that you've put in some effort to understand the problem before asking someone else to explain it.
To be fair #ChatGPT is a fantastic bullshit detector. 👀
Here's how you can use it: when you see anyone peddling ChatGPT-based "solutions", that right there is almost certainly bullshit.
You're welcome! 👍
Do you know why you won't find any mention anywhere on the W3C website of #web3? It does not exist. BOOM! There is one web.

Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
