I just hate how believable my dreams are. I have already talked about the grocery fakeout dreams where I dream I do groceries and buy stuff I'm missing, and then start cooking assuming I have the ingredients, then open my fridge/pantry and realize it was a dream.
Another one that idk if it was a dream or real: someone told me wood is cheaper to buy in the UK and idk if it was part of the real convo I had with this person or a remix. Ugh why cant i dream I'm batman or something
I'm gonna be spending the next two weeks sorting through all the new thoughts and questions about identity that I acquired at #WHY2025, aren't I?
This feels like MCH2022 all over again (it isn't a bad thing, probably)

Some #WHY2025 presenters used AI generated images on their slides, which disrespects the audience, devalues the rest of the talk, and might not be compatible with the CC-BY licensing of the video recording. When are hacker camps and congresses going to have an explicit ban on slop?

@elilla My experience is with workshop tools rather than scissors, but that doesn't look like particularly much rust; I expect that they'll be recoverable with something that removes rust. Vinegar should help somewhat, though I usually use WD40 (or the generic equivalent), it seems to work a little better. Not sure how to 'properly' sharpen scissors though.

I've created an account for Promistreams, the interoperable streams spec and library I've been working on for JS, where I'll be posting regular-ish updates and information about it: @promistreams
There's not much on there, it doesn't even have a logo yet, but stuff will start appearing there eventually! If better streams in #Javascript interest you at all, I'd recommend giving it a follow 🙂
@Vampire Yep; (most) DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs have an organic dye layer that's used to store the data; the laser in the burner activates this dye layer and permanently discolors it. DVD-RWs are similar, but use a reversible dye layer. The dye layer is what rots easily, due to its organic nature.
Whereas 'pressed' DVDs (the ones you typically buy in a store) are literally stamped; they are physically deformed during manufacturing using a stamp (that's specific to the production run, but reused across many discs). That's also how they can be produced so quickly, despite burning at home taking forever in comparison. There's no organic material involved so the disc doesn't 'rot' as easily, although it can still be damaged by eg. UV light.
All Blu-rays use a non-organic dye layer, and so do M-DISC CDs/DVDs, and so they are much less susceptible to rot too.
