"I came here to stand up for the rights of a minority... but this crowd looks like a majority." - Judit Hernádi

#BudapestPride today was illegal... but also the largest we had in 30 years. Incredible turnout. Trying to ban it made it stronger. Propaganda trying to make hate the majority opinion failed.

A handful of counter-protesters blockaded the Freedom Bridge (because irony is lost on them), but the parade moved one bridge over and passed them by.

Hungary has banned anything that “promotes homosexuality,” which essentially means Pride. Today over 500,000 people in Budapest turned up for a Pride march and told the government to: 'Fuck off!'.

Today there was a demonstration in #Amsterdam for free migration and refugee rights. Organised by MiGreat (migreat.org/en). The weather was great (a bit to sweltering) with mostly nice people. The only disappointment was the turnout, but that also made it nicer in a certain way. The reason for the turnout was probably; 1. people were to tired after the NATO-summit; 2. the municipality decided to move us out of the center, a 15 min. walk from the nearest public transport (although not having to trip over tourists is also a plus); 3. there was also a demo against an anti-refugee demo in Haarlem.

Here is a short time-lapse (via MiGreat with permission, blur is ours) at the moment we arrived back in the Martin Luther King Park (the start and finish).

📣 A shout-out to @MokumTegenFascisme.

Shoutout 💪🍀.

Hackers are the coolest people on the planet. Change my mind.

I've been really enjoying this channel, which is mostly a guy in his workshop meticulously restoring old carnival rides and figuring out the techniques as he goes along - it's very relaxing to watch: youtube.com/watch?v=aBLLQ4DPW8

@wyldtom @stella IKEA is the largest logging company in the world, responsible for the destruction of thousands of ecosystsems , illigal logging and colonisation all around the world.

Their actions in Sapmí and Romania alone would land them in the Hague, this is Pinkwashing of ecocide, genocide and colonialism

FUCK IKEA, NO CORPOS AT PRIDE

Hold and attend de-escalation, conflict resolution, first-aid, volunteer medic, and self-defense workshops in your neighborhood, school, workplace, or community organization.

I am begging writers & writing-related-workers of all kinds—but especially people working in journalism and blogs—to stop using “AI art” to accompany your writing.

Please have solidarity with your fellow creative workers 💜

I've been thinking a lot about that idea of "community is something you establish, not something you end up in" and how a lot of eg. queer discourse revolves around "the queer community" when it should probably revolve around solidarity between *different* queer communities instead

@joepie91 @eniko I feel this is a continuation of the software mindset that we are somehow special and not subject to being treated like any other workers under capitalism.

@midnightspire @eniko I've noticed that there's an almost-perfect overlap between "people who claim that AI is perfectly fine for writing code" and "people who have a history of showing disregard for the quality of their work and how much work they create for others in the process"

@janamarie They need to remove the CO from it so that it has enough capacity to absorb the new CO that it needs to tell you about

AI is dogshit. And the more contact people have with AI, the more they'll realize it's dogshit and turn against it as tacky. The only reason anyone's doing any of it is because billionaires and multinationals are telling them "AI is the future!" and cramming it into everything

Even with all this they still can't get *most* people to give it more than a passing glance. Because people can instinctively recognize that it's dogshit, that it's useless insipid vapid bullshit with no intrinsic value

@eniko I've noticed that "AI" has a much better reputation in software development circles than virtually anywhere else working-class, and I wonder if it's just because software developers believe that it'll lift them to the top of the hierarchy

I say this because

1. I know some people do look up to me in that way

And

2. It is imo very important to create a culture of shame around the use of AI
