re: language opinions (2)
@thibaultmol I'm definitely no linguist either, these opinions are entirely from regularly using both and noticing which bits I have difficulty with in which languages + external observations of others speaking them :)
language opinions (2)
Tangentially, Flemish seems a bit *more* emotionally expressive to me than Dutch, but I don't really speak it
@xgranade@wandering.shop I had to check the spec but these are the full URLs for the invite endpoints (there are multiple versions): https://spec.matrix.org/v1.14/server-server-api/#inviting-to-a-room
I don't *think* that just /invite will work but I'm a bit fuzzy on exactly how nginx locations work again
@mdstevens0612 Yeah, TL;DR North Korean workers pretending to not be that, applying for remote jobs and funneling their wages back to the NK government
Like, come on. If you're going to claim to be a threat detection company or somesuch, preventing false positives is *also* part of your job!
Another PSA to anyone following me from Fosstodon
In light of a new admin likely taking over, I will still be blocking the instance by the end of May.
I haven't seen much from the new admin, but they said they want to keep things "as is". That was the entire issue with the previous admin team. Another person doing the same old, same old, makes no difference.
People of Fosstodon: please find a place with decent moderators.
I know you all want to avoid drama - so do I! The way to do that is to take action when shit hits the fan, rather than turning the fan away so the shit hits someone else.
re: extreme transphobia
@xgranade@wandering.shop There also seems to be this thing but I have no experience with it: https://github.com/t2bot/synapse-simple-antispam
re: extreme transphobia
@xgranade@wandering.shop That will likely break state resolution in rooms that that server participates in in unpredictable ways, and/or cause a lot of backfill jank.
One possible solution is to configure your reverse proxy to reject requests to the server-to-server /invite endpoint, if they originate from the offending server's IP - that will prevent that server from issuing any invites to users on your server at all (various homeservers block invites wholesale already and it hasn't broken anything besides, well, invites)
So I 3D printed a design that I thought would make for a fun pin to put on a backpack or laptop case....but so far no one I've shown it to has recognized this logo instantly...feeling old today.

@smallcircles Yeah, in retrospect, "what if we based our economy and our information infrastructure on extractively manipulating everybody all the time" was maybe not a great foundation for society.
In the process of moving to @joepie91. This account will stay active for the foreseeable future! But please also follow the other one.
