Bustle is the DBus activity visualization application I desperately wanted.

Thanks #ThisWeekInGNOME!

I have finally remembered to drink water today
I guess this is a checkpoint, did you drink water today?

A friend who used to do tech support told me that he learned that instead of asking "is it plugged in" it was better to ask the customer to unplug it and plug it back in. Then they might notice that it was unplugged but they don't have to admit it. I think about that a lot

(I promise it's not my fault; I'm not allowed to do heavy work until I finish recovering from transplantation!)

Meticulously planning my vegetable garden on computer while my unfinished and therefore useless raised beds look at me accusingly from the garage

@foone You haven't reached the maximum yet; that would've been if you'd downloaded an 'online installer' from visualstudio.com which then itself downloaded the actual application from vsdelivery.azure.net or some shit like that (no idea whether that host really exists but it probably does, it seems like a very Microsoft thing to do)

A good percentage of my friends are Nazis. That percentage is zero; that’s a good percentage of Nazi friends to have.

Dear #LazyWeb #FediHerd,

with different disasters - both natural and otherwise - on the rise, I am looking for recommendations on a radio receiver that would be well suited (also) for in such occasions.

What I imagine - but if you thought it through better, do let me know - one would need:
- AM, FM, DAB (I imagine internet radio is most fragile)
- battery - either easy replaceable or rechargeable
- also work without batteries
- good quality and sturdy
- portable
- world coverage would be cool

It occurs to me that 'meritocracy' is just the divine right, but for capitalists - if the system is currently the dominant one, then that must be "because god ordained it so" / "because it was the best system and therefore rose to the top", and therefore it is above criticism

You know those shaped-plastic blister packages that a lot of products are sold in, filling up your plastic waste bin? Here's an easy way to (partly) reuse them if you have a vegetable garden! All you need is scissors and some way to label things.

A lot of this style of packaging has large rectangular flat areas of plastic; almost always on the back of the package, sometimes areas on the front too. Find all of them and cut them out, so you're left with a stack of flat, rectangular(-ish) pieces of plastic.

Then just cut those rectangles into strips of about 5-10cm. They don't need to be cut nicely, they just serve as posts for your labels! Then either print labels and stick them on or, alternatively, write on them with a thin permanent marker.

Now you have tags for your plants, without needing to buy a bunch of new plastic ones!

URGENT :boost_request: here's my (updated) list of folks who need to be prioritized. everyone's fundraisers have stalled. most on this list are trans & disabled. **most are in increased danger due to US fascism.** please help by pasting their links into your search bar & boosting their posts directly or by giving any small amount. 💗 thank you!

Okay but what if we used the trade war as a pretext to pivot the entire country away from the current automobile hellscape by massive investment in public transit

Newly pre-sown indoors: cherry tomatoes, chard, eggplant, garden peas, lettuce, French beans.

Also planted out my opportunistic pumpkin plants. Scattered a bunch of old seeds salvaged from a supermarket pumpkin a while ago, surprisingly they have all turned into plants! Let's see if they survive their relocation into my front garden, and will actually bear fruit.

(It's fine if they don't; they'll still provide ground cover, and I currently don't have anything else planned for the front garden anyway)

Doing lots of sowing of plants today. Window sills are getting full!

@gsuberland So, funny thing, neither have I, I think! It doesn't seem to be generally available in stores here. I'll be planting it this year, though.
