Uspol, rightwing death, whiteness in a nutshell, some ableist wording in quoted toot

mastodon.social/@NotoriousDLJ/

It is so darkly funny to me that folks who participated in notorious fascist acts of violence like J6 or this guy showing up at the pizza place who are later set free keep dying at the hands of police bc we still live in a police state.

I mean, largely symbolic acts of the government removing consequences from their actions and deceiving them into believing they're invincible, only for them to turn around and get killed by the armed enforcers of that same government very quickly bc they're still not the ruling class? And are still very much at risk like the rest of us?

If that ain't the perfect example of whiteness in a nutshell idk what is!

how dare you write something like this on the website of a university

"efficient, well-ordered" 🤣

People complain about 'leftist infighting' and how that supposedly means leftists can't get anything done but like, have you ever really looked at what the social dynamics within actual operating governments are like?

Because every time some story about it comes out, it sure sounds awfully similar.

@futurebird I do think in terms of letters, sort of. It's a mostly subconscious process, but I can *make* it conscious and analyze it.

Basically I break the thing I want to type into a sequence of letters (making use of my ticker tape synesthesia in the process), and then my brain presents a sort of 'movement plan' with the exact physical locations to press and movements to get there.

I can visualize that plan in my head, and essentially 'see' a keyboard with paths drawn over it, in my mind's eye (or, if I choose to, see it 'overlaid' on top of my actual vision).

Likewise, given a letter, I can determine the physical location on the keyboard in my head from memory; but I have much more difficulty with *sequentially* rattling off from memory the keys that exist on a given keyboard row.

I cleaned my keyboard and accidentally swapped the B and V keycaps.

This has caused me to discover that for writing words I touch type as I have no problem using the board like this... but when I try to copy and paste text? I *do* look at the keys and the swap fools me every time.

Experimental design!

I use a 40% keyboard with three layers at home. I do not know why I bother to do this it's very annoying but the keyboard is so handsome looking...

Maybe this is a sign to move on.

@flesh @mynameistillian The Dutch supermarket world is kind of weird 🙃 Jumbo (which is one of the biggest chains here) also got raided because the CEO was suspected of involvement in major organized crime.

Or how there's like, a single central purchasing organization (Superunie) that basically every non-dominant supermarket chain participates in, leading to ~every supermarket having virtually identical store-brand products but with different packaging.

@flesh @mynameistillian I'm reminded of the two Jumbo supermarkets in the shopping area in my town (Rosmalen), which are *almost* in each other's line of sight.

What's more bizarre is that no acquisitions were involved. The second one was newly built while the first one was *already* a Jumbo.

The story goes that it's a revenge action for a competitor (Albert Heijn) snubbing their promised spot in a new shopping center further north through a backhanded deal. The idea is that by occupying both supermarket-zoned buildings here, AH cannot establish a competing presence.

subtoot, NixOS

@joepie91 it's almost like not caring about consent is a consistent political ideology and we've been saying that for ages

Bij m'n laatste AH-bestelling zaten wat probeerzakjes van "Yogi Tea".

Op de verpakking: "bereidingsinstructies voor veilige consumptie".

Afijn, die gaan we dus niet drinken en zeker niet kopen...

Content warnings for politics people, I beg you :blobfoxtableflip:

Oh look, the guy who did a malicious merge in nixpkgs is now complaining about Mastodon being "toxic" and leaving for Twitter instead.

I'm sure it had absolutely nothing to do with people calling out his malicious behaviour on here and not accepting his bullshit justifications.

DHH going full mask off racist is a good time for a reminder that him and his wee pal wrote all that organisational management 💩thought leadership💩 based on running a company with *a few dozen employees* and is basically the manager of your local supermarket posting on facebook about how you can't say anything these days

Ik heb me aangemeld als luisterend schrijver. Er zijn er veel meer nodig. Dus als je goed kunt luisteren, zonder zelf te oordelen, wees welkom denk ik dan. #gelijkwaardigherstel #toeslagenaffaire

I'm so excited to grow more corn this year. Last year was my first time.

Last season I learned that the seed packets aren't joking about not planting corn varieties within 80 feet from each other.

I accidentally cross pollinated my glass gem corn and blue indigo corn and it turned out beautiful and I saved the seeds because it's so fun for decoration. I think giving my friends cute little corn bundles would be well received.

I'll make sure to actually follow instructions for all the sweet corn I'm hoping to grow though lol.

The world if programmers put half the effort into designing robust plugin architectures that they put into architecting their own code today

re: Mh question

@wardi This is one of the reasons that I decided to do my work as a freelancer, personally. I now negotiate deadlines out of the contract whenever talking to a potential customer - in that I make it clear that I cannot function with deadlines outside of exceptional emergency cases (eg. regulatory deadlines), and that they are not necessary for work to get done either.

That gives me enough room to schedule my work based on how I'm doing mentally, rather than being expected to be present at a specific fixed time. This works really well to remove pressure, and instead spend my spoons on what my brain can actually deal with at any given moment. On average, more than enough work gets done.

It's harder to pull off under a regular employment contract, but I *have* heard of people doing so successfully.
