@thomholwerda The big problem with that idea is that digital banking infrastructure is fundamentally centralized in its control; it creates a 'center of power' that is trivial to subvert by whoever gets into power to exclude people of choice from society.
While cash is *nominally* centrally controlled, its fundamentally decentralized and peer-to-peer nature makes it much more difficult to effectively enforce such mechanisms, and that is a significant protection from authoritarianism.
And yes, with that lack of central control come societal risks. As is basically always true for anything that resists authoritarianism by decentralizing power. You could have the exact same discussion about camera surveillance, for example.
@sandradejong @FransVeldman Dat is inderdaad ook mijn zorg. Ik denk wel dat dit deels af te vangen is door niet alleen een handleiding te schrijven maar ook bijvoorbeeld een bijbehorend forum te hebben waar men onderling dit soort problemen op kan lossen, met waar nodig hulp van meer ervaren selfhosters.
(Er zijn al wel fora voor selfhosters, maar die zijn toch doorgaans gericht op de hardcore nerds en niet op nieuwelingen)

my take on access to HRT, including DIY and minors
It should go without saying but apparently it might not be as obvious as i thought
But I believe that access to HRT is a fundamental right of every consenting individual who wishes to use it, with no "if"s or "but"s
That includes those who do not wish to interact with the medical system for *any reason* and minors when it comes to puberty blockers *and* hormones
Including DIY

Onlangs kreeg ik het goede nieuws dat de VU mijn promotieonderzoeksvoorstel heeft goedgekeurd. Mijn (fenomenologisch) onderzoek richt zich op de invloed van digitale technologie op leraar-zijn.
▪️ Ik wil begrijpen hoe leraren deze veranderingen beleven en hoe technologie hun pedagogisch handelen beïnvloedt. Dat doe ik door leraren te interviewen over onverwachte gebeurtenissen waarin technologie 'onderbreekt'.

@ifixcoinops This kind of existed, it was called Flattr, but it ultimately shut down because AIUI they couldn't afford to keep operating, with how expensive it is (regulations-wise) to be a payment processor
