@davidculley Update: the product manager for #Thunderbird has replied in the Github issue thread, and committed to making the telemetry opt-in instead, without use of dark pattern.
Some serious props to Australia Post for this one. No street number provided, just "The one with the big antenna". Thanks for the laughs @xssfox !

A huge victory for trans people's rights in the European Union: the European Court of Justice ruled today that EU member states are not allowed to refuse a legal gender change obtained in another member state, and that all member states must recognize a gender change obtained anywhere in the EU.
“The Court emphasised that the refusal to acknowledge changes of forename and gender acquired in another Member State is contrary to the fundamental rights of EU citizens.”
re: subpost about debugging
@clarfonthey And for an extremely specific value of "best" that mainly means "scored well on standardized tests" and not much else, too
re: subpost about debugging
@clarfonthey At one point, various tech companies were bragging about how they hired the best graduates of top schools right out of school, with the implication that they must have the most competent people, and every time I see a post like this, I think back to that
@infobeautiful Irrationally annoyed by that one mis-sorted entry at the start of the list 🙂
re: health, positive...? sort of?
@rune Many of them are, unfortunately, potassium :p But not all!
re: health, positive...? sort of?
@rune Well to a point, I should still not overdo it, I assume :p And my favourite snacks are still verboten due to potassium :(
health, positive...? sort of?
Judging from said doctor's puzzled look, they did not expect it either
"COVID is not a cold, it's a car accident. It spreads throughout the body, impacting many different organ systems... It's not unusual to get into a car accident and be just fine, but a lifestyle that involves getting into a car accident once a year comes with a reduced life expectancy." @erou I feel similarly (I've often run into the exact same problem that @aral has), though over the years I've learned to reframe that slightly: you'll always have people disagree about your communication strategy, but whether this matters depends entirely on *who* the people are that disagree.
For me that means that if some random techbro disagrees, it doesn't matter to me; but if other marginalized folks disagree, I should probably be paying attention.
