I don't think this is getting the coverage it needs. Scottish government to require passivhaus standard for all new build homes. This is big. Really big. Growing out of lessons from the 70's oil crisis. Passivhaus buildings use very little energy to heat, or to cool. We've known how to do this for decades. It's gross negligence from all western governments that the same is not true of all new builds in the developed world.

Zo ontzettend herkenbaar.

Yes, there are definitely people who are assholes in response to paywalled links.

But do also please be mindful that paywalls, at sufficient scale (which they are reaching), significantly contribute to the wealth divide - those who can afford to access information, versus those who cannot.

(Paywall bypasses do not work reliably and are not *really* a solution to this.)

I love living in a society where ever single thing, place, activity, or interaction has to cost money, including stuff you need to live, but acquiring money is made to be as annoying and soul crushing as possible

"Simple DirectMedia Layer is a cross-platform development library [...]. It is used by video playback software, emulators, and popular games including Valve's award winning catalog and many Humble Bundle games."

Love how you can date this introduction text just from its choice of 'popular games'

A year after this post, the headline Firefox Now Also Draws Blood Every Time You Log On appears, with the subtitle Only half compared to Chromium

Designing tube slides in Aqua Mundo is now much easier thanks to these construction lines that tell you where in the world you are building 🙂

Implemented a "wide slide" in Aqua Mundo.
You can choose between individual lanes or one big wide slide, and enable race mode. Still a lot of work to do but I'm happy with the progress so far 😀

@psilocervine Do you happen to have a thread or something like that with more details/specifics?

you know, i'll take the incessant reply guys of fedi over the style of aggro gotchas on twitter/bluesky any day

at least most reply guys are (ineptly) trying to contribute additional information to the discussion rather than just scoring a point in social media debate club by getting one over on you

@alive In practice a lot of 'duplicates' are not *exact* duplicates but rather different issues caused by the same underlying cause, and in that context this model unfortunately doesn't really work either.

Tell me something nerdy that you don't think many people know, but you'd like for more people to know!

I'll go first: the Stargate theme song has lyrics despite those lyrics never being in any opening for the show.
