re: grumbling about funding
Like, if you're "competing on the open market" for developers to hire while your community is desperately trying to collect $30 a month to keep an important service running, you are doing something extremely wrong as a project, and that is just one example
grumbling about funding
One thing that will forever continue frustrating me, is how there are certain very institutional organizations behind eg. FOSS projects that are comparatively swimming in money, indiscriminately spend it like they're a startup with cash to burn, and then still manage to run out of it
All the while grassroots community endeavours are desperate for *any* funding at all, and could have achieved more with less than a tenth or a hundredth of the budget, but got absolutely nothing in the process
This is not any one specific organization I'm thinking of, it is happening all over the place
The absolute gall of this question. A required question, mind you.
I will likely not be getting called in for an interview, but it was totally worth it.
Trans, suicide, nlpol
Slaap zacht, lieve Antonina.

PSA:
“if it was important, you would have remembered it.” And “if you cared, you would have remembered.“
Neither of these claims have any basis in reality. Importance, and caring have no correlation to whether a memory is formed.
These sentences only serve to gaslight people about a chemical, process that they cannot control.
Please spread this knowledge.
Please stop gaslighting people with memory issues.
Wait, AGDQ got rid of its masking policy? Maybe they should switch charities to some long covid research foundation then, since they think it's okay to have their attendees speedrun Long Covid% category
Lmao I just looked up their covid "policy" and besides recommending but not mandating masks it also talks about handwashing. Because of course it fucking does. Gotta keep up that hygiene theater and pretend that fomite transmission, not a single case of which has been conclusively proven in 4 years of pandemic, is a significant factor in spreading a literal airborne virus
All of this during the worst covid surge since the emergence of omicron, with a new variant that is as different from omicron as omicron was from the initial ancestral version of covid, and which is more severe and immune evasive
So disappointing 😒
re: Matrix governance shit, rant
@MTRNord I am not expecting them to 'backchannel'. I am expecting them to *prioritize* it. To be proactive about the thing that is literally meant to save their broken and falling-apart processes.
I *deliberately* made it an MSC *because* I didn't want to backchannel this.
This is the actual problem here: https://social.pixie.town/@joepie91/111736936127357679
re: Matrix governance shit, rant
@MTRNord I have also left out the several years of private conversations with Travis and Matthew where I gave them practically paint-by-numbers solutions to get out of the hole they'd dug themselves into, which were then promptly ignored.
re: Matrix governance shit, rant
@ryan That is exactly what it is, apparently, and that is exactly what it resulted in.
