@natty@tech.lgbt @ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt Lots of people see it as a mark of shame unfortunately, assuming that high issue counts mean something is unmaintained :(

Trans people just want to fucking live. You know what I'm saying? We want to have a safe home, we want to eat in a restaurant on occasion, we want to hang out with friends, we want to fall in love and be loved back. We want to have fun and dress up sometimes and stay at home on our couches sometimes and have a life that is fulfilling and in which we aren't constantly in fear of murder or harassment. This is not new and it's not radical and it's not harming you or anyone else to ask for it.

@natty@tech.lgbt @ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt (Part of my ire here is directed towards platforms like Github that decided to prominently display open issue count, despite it being a completely pointless metric in isolation)

@natty@tech.lgbt @ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt The point is "open issue count number go down" basically

ChatGPT

I caved and tried to pose some philosophical dilemmas to ChatGPT. It's very good at flat-out ignoring anything that shows it's being inconsistent. 10/10 simulation of arguing with a random Redditor.

i spent my whole day remaking https://tiredand.gay/keygender/ into a real windows app. works from Win95 up to Win10. ^-^

that was vaguely fun. and also frustrating (because I tried to make it work on Win3.1 - kids, don't smoke Win16 apps).

grab it here: https://sdomi.pl/tmp/keygen.exe

Turns out that ChatGPT is primarily good at replicating the overconfidence of internet commenters, rather than actual knowledge

My career as a disabled artist who makes art about my experiences as a disabled trans person can be summed up via an excerpt from the last grant rejection letter I received:

“…while the members of the selection panel felt your art was evocative, accomplished, and beautiful, we collectively felt the subject matter of disability would disturb and upset art patrons. Your work was ultimately rejected because we felt it wouldn’t resonate with the public.”

…My reality.

@chaos Would it work to mount those as a filesystem (eg. FUSE or whatever Windows' equivalent was called, I forgot) and then use a regular benchmarking tool?

Any time I see someone post about gpt et al it is so hard to stop myself from replying. Remember that openai is a techno-fascist accelerationist/longtermist/‘rationalist’ organization and these systems are drive by the belief that human consciousness is the same as computation, and that our duty to the future is to make real “general” ai. They are anti-human (anti-life imo), routinely privatize public research, pilfer publicly available data without ethics, and are actively trying to build a dark future that is bad for all of us. They are funded by musk and thiel.

They are to be avoided and actively countered where possible.

any variation of "militancy just gives the fascists ammunition to use against us!" is an argument in favor of abandoning the most vulnerable in order to better play by the rules of the people who want us dead.

idk how people are getting chatgpt to do any useful programming. maybe i need to turn on the dark theme lol

@mhalila Assuming that with "EU domestic" you mean "within a single EU country" and not "between anywhere in the EU"? Because the latter is unfortunately not very achievable with the current state of intra-EU rail :/

Are you happy on your current Mastodon instance/server?

Please boost to help this #poll scoot about the #fediverse, thanks

we were so worried about "malware" (software that deliberately spreads and causes harm) that we forgot to protect against "mallware" (software that transforms every single computing experience into a shopping mall) and it took over the world oops
