In January of this year I worked on a little #GodotEngine prototype and tried to pitch it ❄️🚗

The project was codenamed #AShortDelivery

I didn't get picked up, but I'll post about it sometime soon :) #GameDev #PixelArt #MastoArt

re: game design, queer

@ben Ah, great, works for me :)

re: game design, queer

@ben Yeah, I've been somewhat looking forward to that. I do hope there'll be a DRM-free version for sale somewhere.

re: game design, queer

@ben My brain absolutely refuses to grok Dwarf Fortress unfortunately, I really do need an accessible cohesive style/presentation

re: meta

@rune Ah, in that sense. Yeah, that is a good point... I'm not sure how to deal with that on a fedi-wide level.

re: game design, queer

@ben Also I've long been pondering about building my own game that's vaguely in the same style, but with Complexity In The Right Places, and without the weirdly problematic subtexts of Rimworld... but I cannot art for shit :p

game design, queer

@ben You know, all this is reminding me of how the 'sexuality' mechanic in the original game was really half-assed by someone obviously-very-cishet, and it never actually got fixed in the base game, it was up to the modders to turn it into something that actually kinda made sense.

And the new mechanics from DLCs feel like they're just kind of replicating this failure mode, and leaving out a lot of depth where it would have been cheap development-wise to add it

meta

@rune Yeah, I do wonder how it'll play out. I'm not super concerned about new instances spawning yet, though there's of course always the risk of "the new generation not learning from the previous generations" if all the instances are run by new folks.

@ben The way they're going about DLC is generally very weird. DLC after DLC after DLC out of nowhere, and from what I've seen, all of them feel really... incomplete? I'm not sure how to describe it.

At least they're not just pumping out existing free mods as DLCs like some games are doing, but it still all feels really rushed.

@dreadpir8robots@infosec.exchange @jerry@infosec.exchange One thing I would suggest adding to the rules explicitly, specifically for the infosec crowd: respect community norms and don't treat the fediverse like a data-mining free-for-all.

Unfortunately quite a lot of infosec folks don't seem to anticipate this expectation by themselves...

boosts are endorsement and favs are meows

countersocial

@MerlinJStar@mastodon.lol Beware that the guy who runs the show there has a decade+ history of scamming people and taking credit for other people's work, and is very authoritarian-minded with little regard for marginalized folks :(

uhhhh I told my kids to read a few pages from @suricrasia 's cursed computer iceberg tonight and now one of them is watching a video about Magic the Gathering being Turing complete and the other is trying to solve FizzBuzz in Befunge

not what I was expecting but I'll take it

suricrasia.online/iceberg/

babe are you ok? you’ve barely touched your dotsocial metadiscourse

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange ... as long as you block the cryptobro instance (cryptodon), that is :)

@soatok@furry.engineer @Russell Also a perfectly fine option of course, depends entirely on personal preference basically :)

@Russell @soatok@furry.engineer And this is definitely something that people do as well, it's not just hypothetical :)
