@rune Yeah, I do wonder how it'll play out. I'm not super concerned about new instances spawning yet, though there's of course always the risk of "the new generation not learning from the previous generations" if all the instances are run by new folks.
@ben The way they're going about DLC is generally very weird. DLC after DLC after DLC out of nowhere, and from what I've seen, all of them feel really... incomplete? I'm not sure how to describe it.
At least they're not just pumping out existing free mods as DLCs like some games are doing, but it still all feels really rushed.
@dreadpir8robots@infosec.exchange @jerry@infosec.exchange One thing I would suggest adding to the rules explicitly, specifically for the infosec crowd: respect community norms and don't treat the fediverse like a data-mining free-for-all.
Unfortunately quite a lot of infosec folks don't seem to anticipate this expectation by themselves...

Hi folks! Quick tip on what those 'post level' terms actually mean because it's extremely unclear even with descriptions
🌎Public: Shows in Local and Federated timeline for any instance that's relayed with yours or knows about you. Any.
🔓 Unlisted: the least clear. This is still bootable/sharable to others but you only show up on the feeds of people who follow you OR who follow people that boosted you OR direct link.
🔒Followers only: only they can see at all, no boosting
Unlisted is good.

It is clear from this that Dr Powers is willing to use his apparent financial might to stifle legitimate critical discussion among the trans community about influential health professionals rather than to simply correct the public record as might be reasonable.

In the retraction blog is a screenshot (https://transfemscience.org/assets/images/powers-legal-threat-emails.png) of a lengthy correspondence where Powers admits the talk that was criticised was erroneous, accuses Trans Fem Science of being "online harpies", and repeatedly pulls the "look what you made me do" trope while refusing to identify the false defamatory statement he is alleging they made specifically.

Dr Will Powers, famous for his hrt transition "method" and more recently for promoting Ivermectin as a solution to coronavirus, has forced a Trans Fem science and research blog to retract an article about him using the threat of a SLAPP lawsuit.
