Het is in ieder geval goed om te zien dat er ook nog mensen bij de Bevrijdingsdag-evenementen zijn (vooral de muzikanten!) die zich wél uitspreken over de situatie in Palestina; een taak waarin de Nederlandse regering grof gefaald heeft.

@bram Like, this is kind of my fundamental issue with that "they didn't have a choice" justification.
It's not that such situations *can't* exist (because they can and do), it's that there should be a very very high bar to accept that a situation actually *was* like that. It shouldn't just be assumed for the whole category of "situations that involve coercion", exactly because most of the time there absolutely are covert options that people *should* have taken.

Some of what he is experiencing is clearly racism. BIPOC people who mask clearly have a much worse experience here. Talking to him made me feel like we need a union of mask wearers, that advocates for our rights. Absolutely enraging.

I talked to an experienced Uber driver today (31k trips) who masks and he said he gets non-stop hassled by his peers, customers and other people who tell him to take it off. He gets negative reports and even got suspended for four days when some customers tried to allege he was inappropriate.
All because he wears a mask.

Wat is Schoof toch ook een hypocriete lul. "Herdenken" is niets waard als je vervolgens weigert om er lessen uit te trekken. Dan doe je het echt alleen maar als toneelspel, en geef je geen fuck om de slachtoffers die je zegt te herdenken.

Begrijp me niet verkeerd, ik vind het goed dat je dat doet, maar helaas is de realiteit dat het overgrote deel van de mensen dat niet doet, en het dus ook nooit benoemd wordt in dit soort artikelen als iets dat je zou *moeten* doen...

As Autumn BlackDeer would say, white colonial logic works under the axiom: “the more distant, the more objective”. Hence we automate processes in the industry, in police and justice, in the military… Objectivity, as a moral distant, context detached narrative, has always been our white colonial (scientific) language to legitimate human cruelty towards the recipients of automation (enslaved, incarcerated and stigmatized peoples) and to compartmentalize and minimize our responsibility.

gisteren was ik bij de bossche dodenherdenking, bij het verzetsmonument. die was mediocre, uiteraard.
het blijft een mooi, indrukwekkend moment als alleen de merels nog te horen zijn omdat honderden mensen demonstratief zwijgen. maar de galmende stilte over palestina, terwijl oekraine wel in de officiele speeches benoemd wordt, was pijnlijk. poetin is de villain, maar over netanyahu hebben we het niet.
maar de laatste toespraak was van eric alink, 'stadscroniqueur van den bosch'. en die was raak. trok een duidelijke paralel tussen klein herkenbaar uitsluitgedrag en geopolitiek, benoemde gaza, en was de enige die de belangrijkste slogan op 4 mei uitsprak: nooit meer.
"'Nooit meer', zeiden we in 1945. We zijn tachtig jaar verder. 'Nooit meer' is geen geruststelling voor het slapen gaan. 'Nooit meer' is ook geen levenslange garantie. @Zjaan Die kans is inderdaad groot in de praktijk, maar het maakt de bewering dat het juridisch wel goed zit natuurlijk niet meer waar.

Dat klopt in ieder geval niet. Als er bijvoorbeeld persoonsgegevens besproken worden, dan mag die informatie niet zomaar naar een AI-bedrijf gestuurd worden (wat voor de gangbare "AI"-systemen wel het geval is).

- een asielsysteem dat door jouw partij tot het bot uitgeknepen is, waardoor mensen in onterende omstandigheden jarenlang tussen kast en muur opgesloten zitten, terwijl jouw collega's samen met de rest van de gevestigde orde het volk opzwepen tegen vluchtelingen.
degenen die jij vast houdt zijn degenen die ons uit elkaar spelen.
nooit meer is nu. en zonder solidariteit met machtelozen, van ter apel tot gaza, is het geen nooit meer maar verdomd snel.
