@elilla This happens for me when my battery has fully depleted itself; it seems to be a problem with the battery controller's firmware.
Usually fixed for me by letting it sit on the charger for a few hours to trickle-charge and then re-plugging it to switch to proper charging mode.
Don't know if you have the same cause for the problem, but hopefully it helps?
@shebang@chaos.social @domi I'm curious to see the competition now :p
@vxo Ah, this is a city bike so it basically has no rear suspension at all beyond the rubber tire 😅
I did specifically buy a (second-hand) bike with an old-style steel luggage rack - the newer aluminium ones tend to be rated for quite low loads and probably wouldn't fare as well with this kind of thing, and since I don't have a car, it kind of needs to... although the total *weight* of this stack wasn't that high, it was mostly just bulky.
I did notice it being loaded quite heavily! Bumps in the road were... not particularly pleasant.
subtoot, racism
@necrophcodr It is racist. Racism isn't just about ethnicity in a direct sense, particularly when systemic racism gets involved.
And the two claims (about Americans vs. Chinese people) are not comparable at all to begin with; because the root of racism is a power imbalance, and Americans are absolutely on the 'powerful' side of that imbalance.
language stuff
@domo I'm surprised you didn't mention the d/t thing as the problem, as that's the one that trips up even most Dutch people for their entire lives 🙂
There are some other 'fun' ones, like the two different articles: eg. "de krat" vs. "het krat" which are both correct, but for most words, only one of the two is correct!
I'm curious what specific issue you have with the past tense? I'm a native Dutch speaker, so possibly there's something there that I never noticed.
(Aside, the water thing would be "geen water", rather than "green water" :p)
subtoot, racism
@necrophcodr The implication that it's unsafe because it's "from China", rather than because an irresponsible white asshole demanded an impossible set of design constraints and had the power and money to make that other people's problem to figure out
racism
@mynameistillian I occasionally click through to the replies as viewed from another instance, and racist commentary like this nearly always seems to originate from either mastodon.social, infosec.exchange, or fosstodon - with occasionally other generic open instances in the mix...
Especially the sinophobia seems really common on infosec.exchange and also in retro circles 😕
subtoot, racism (2)
Entirely unsurprisingly, the user in question was on infosec.exchange
explanation
@domo (There's going to be a couple of cases like this in Dutch, btw, where an established name for a group of things or people is treated as a singular object - they're *technically* not uncountable nouns, I believe, but they behave like them for the purpose of grammar)
boost to scare a thunderbird developer
@linus Ah, I have something similar in my Thunderbird, and it is also the Github notifications folder 😅
explanation
@domo A singular cop would be a "politieagent" (or, colloquially and more commonly, "agent", as that word is rarely used for anything else anyway), and so the plural would be "politieagenten" or "agenten".
