You know that thing where every time you try to do something, you spot another thing that needs doing, and then you get distracted, and *that* spawns another thing and you get distracted again, and you end up completely forgetting what you were trying to do in the first place?
Turns out that can be weaponized to deal with irregular chores like tidying up; when you do task A, and you spot task B, you *first* finish task A and *actively* remind yourself of task B continuously in the meantime, then once A is done you immediately continue on to B, which then spawns task C, and so on.
I've found it a very helpful way to overcome the "I don't know where to start" / "this is so much work that I don't have a clear picture" problem; just pick up an arbitrary item, try to store it, and trust that it will spawn the next task in the process.
Before you know it, you've taken a significant bite out of your todo list, despite not actively tracking what you're doing. Because it usually doesn't really matter *what* you do, just *that* you do something, anything. And you never need to remember more than one 'next' task at a time.

@bumblebeedc Yeah, pretty much; I won't spoil the ride, but they pretty much went for the whole buffet of ride elements, it's kind of absurd (and apparently very good! But I haven't been on it yet)

Well, that's a first; I've run across a woodworking YouTuber who makes a point of a) constantly repeating the need for PPE, and b) visually showing that the powertool is unplugged by holding the cord and plug, every time they demonstrate some kind of dangerous failure mode.
Glad to see it, wish it were more common.

@Ember @stellarskylark I'm reminded of when a Dutch consumer affairs TV programme went to visit Aviko, the largest frozen fries manufacturer in the Netherlands, to ask them what the difference was between their normal fries and their more expensive "airfryer/oven" variant.
Aviko was all "no, we cannot show you this, that's a proprietary trade secret, you cannot come into our factory". Being extremely cagey and unpleasant.
Then they showed up to the factory of a competitor, Lamb Weston, and the guy there went "oh yeah it's really simple, you just leech the starch out of the potato and then apply it as a concentrated coating at the end of the production process again, that makes them crispier in the airfryer, this is what Aviko is also doing. Come in and I'll show you the process".

If your criticism of "big tech" is merely a result of the unhappiness about the fact that Meta, Google and Microsoft aren't EU-corporations you are missing the point.
There is nothing that indicates that SAP or Deutsche Telekom would hesitate a second at the chance of becoming equally violent and exploitative forces.
The solution to Big Tech isn't EU Big Tech. It's de-commercialisation and democratization of tech.

These were novelty topic surveys, intended to get the name YouGov said in print and on-air.
And yet I think they accidentally revealed something about the cultures which standard political surveys never get at.
Significant parts of the voting public in the US are completely detached from reality, and hold levels of confidence in their own place in the world completely at variance with fact.
This is significantly more pronounced among men.
