Tidied up a lot of stuff around the house today. Pretty happy about the results! Nothing is really *completed*, but I took a good chunk out of quite a few piles of stuff.
Especially looking forward to getting rid of all this stuff I don't need anymore.
Considering posting some lists/pictures of the stuff I'm trying to get rid of on fedi, and see if anyone wants it...

US Politics / anti-trans bigotry from centrist and "progressive" Democrats
Here's an excellent thread from @timberwraith on the toxic dynamics on Daily Kos. It's not just there of course, I see a lot of screenshots of centrists and so-called progressives echoing MAGA anti-trans talking points, or pointing to polls as "evidence" that supporting trans rights is an unpopular position.
Just about every trans and non-binary person I talk to was very aware of how willing so many centriset and "progressive" Democrats are to throw trans rights under the bus even before Newsom's bletcherous platforming of an anti-trans bigot and embrace of anti-trans talking points yesterday ... but I'm not sure how aware cis people are about this. So it's really worth highlighting!

And many of these same "progressives" are also echoing anti-Black and anti-Palestinian talking points. Nothing new here, of course, but also worth highlighting!

Ik vind het mooi hoor, dat een man een column schrijft voor internationale vrouwendag, en daarbij verschillende “sterke vrouwen” noemt. Maar als de enige persoon die letterlijk geciteerd wordt een andere man is… maak je diezelfde vrouwen dan niet stemloos? Ik wil niet zeiken maar het geeft me een raar gevoel.

@mboelen @nitrokey Het ligt een beetje aan de leverancier, maar bij sommige van dit soort enveloppen worden er ook ook oude dozen 'versnipperd' om die vulling te maken, i.p.v. vers (gerecycled) karton. Je ziet het vaker bij losse opvulling voor pakketten, maar ik heb het ook wel eens als vulling voor enveloppen gezien.

Ik kreeg van @nitrokey een envelop met bestelde producten en was positief verrast: de envelop was aan twee kanten gevoerd, maar niet met bubbeltjesplastic. Hierdoor kan het gehele ding bij oud #papier en kost het ook minder moeite om de boel uit elkaar te halen.
Als het aan mij zou liggen, zou dit de norm moeten zijn om gebruik van #plastic en kunststoffen te verkleinen.

I read something recently about AI generated images being the "aesthetics of fascism" (forget where exactly, sorry!) and the more that I think about it, the more all those AI slop images seem to dovetail perfectly with the ugliness of wojacks, the Pepe frog, the NFT apes

@jordan I've found that very few people understand the relationship between "taking funding rounds" and "having no good options left" (a lot of folks I've talked to seem to model funding as 'free money' in their understanding), so probably the response to the IPO is based purely on the connection between "IPO" and "profit maximization", not quite recognizing that Discord landed on a fixed path the moment they did funding rounds.
