seriously: a lot of “multilingual programming” stuff seems to focus around esoteric languages where all the keywords are replaced with a different language’s keywords.
But what if we didn’t have to go that far? What if the focus was to let folks write in their natural, preferred input method without having to switch to “special” ascii range characters that just won’t look right?
What if we just use the stuff that Unicode is already providing us, like character tags and equivalence rules, to make things easier for folks outside the tech-privileged sphere?
For all you nonbelievers, I’m genuinely trying to make this happen now, because kdl 2.0 is hella scope creeped already so why not
Anyway come join the discussion if you have some thoughts. The most compelling thing anyone said was when @janl said this would bring the language out of the 70s. Let’s explore the space!!
The TL;DR is that I wouldn't trust anything from "Salvydas Lukosius" or "ss-o" or "z-shell" or "digital-clouds".
At best, they're an inexperienced developer who cares more about looking like an experienced, trusted developer than they do actually becoming one.
At worst, they are some kind of scammer.
I have yet to take a deeper look into the zi source code, but even without that I can safely say the whole project is extremely sus.
reference to conspiracy theory
Just realized I never shared this story: when they came to replace my power meter, I refused a smart meter. Their first question was "oh, because of 5G?", to which I responded by explaining that it was for privacy reasons instead.
The 5G question was not judgmental in tone; it was sympathetic, and I have such mixed feelings about this.
On the one hand, I appreciate that people are showing empathy and understanding for other people's boundaries and concerns, in everyday situations like dealing with a power company.
On the other hand... why did it have to be for a 5G conspiracy theory specifically, and not any of the many other very legitimate concerns that lots of people have about their daily interactions with systems and institutions?
now I may not be (minority), but as a huge Ally, anti-(bigoted position), and all-around fan of the (minority) community, I would LOVE to be invited to the "Get Together For (Minority) Only Where We Celebrate Having Our Own Space For Once" group. I know I haven't been explicitly invited yet, but I'm sure I will as soon as they realize they could even be half as welcoming as I am :) and if not, no worries! but I will be sure to publicly yet indirectly complain about how excluded I feel as an Ally
please boost!
need to figure out a way to receive mutual aid donations under peculiar circumstances. two separate questions:
1. does patreon allow withdrawing money through bank wire? that's the only damn thing that works for me.
2. anyone got experience with payoneer? is it suitable for this?
no, paypal and stripe do not work for reasons i can't resolve at the moment or at all.

"Alle gemeenten moeten vanaf 2026 concrete plannen hebben voor meer staanplaatsen voor woonwagenbewoners en die kunnen verantwoorden aan het Rijk. Dat zegt het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken na vragen van NU.nl over een kritisch rapport over het stelselmatig achterstellen van woonwagenbewoners."

Meta (formerly Facebook), mastodon.social, moderation
This is a real risk we face if we allow meta to set our moderation standards defacto. Aside from allowing more fascism, racism, and transphobia in. We also run the risk of them moderating out or creating a chilling effect on anything seen as advertisement unfriendly, like nudity.

I've been involved with the Internet continuously pretty much since its earliest ancestor ARPANET days at UCLA ARPANET site #1.
I can assure you that the ARPANET and the Internet into which it evolved were NOT designed to provide a means for a handful of powerful AI firms to suck the world dry without permission or compensation of information en masse, that has mostly been put online for free as a public service, all to enrich the coffers and stockholders of those firms, while giving only lip service (if that) to ethical considerations, and giving the sites from which they slurp data the finger, while laughing all the way to the bank.
(You may have seen a similar poll before, sorry - I set it to the wrong duration back then! So here's another attempt. Please vote and boost again for broader reach! )
Think of some kind of activist cause - it doesn't matter what, as long as it's something you would like to see improved in the world.
If I could guarantee that there were others who agree with you on that cause, and who are interested in organizing some kind of activism with you, would you get involved?
Hey do any of my followers in the UK need a binder? I bought a binder fucking years ago when I first came out as trans and I just didn't really feel it and I've been holding onto it ever since because it was expensive and I didn't want to just throw it away without being sure I didn't want a binder
But I really do need to just let it go I think, I can't really wear it because of how my body has changed since then and rather than throwing it I figured I'd let someone else have a chance at using it
It's a 2xl grey gc2b full vest binder, it's got some loose stitching here and there because of my fat ass tryna put it on when I'd clearly outgrown it but it's basically never been worn for any length of time so it still looks pretty new.
I'm happy to send it out for free if you just cover shipping. Please please boost this so I can try and get this to someone who needs it more than me

Sometimes horny on main (behind CW), very much into kink (bondage, freeuse, CNC, and other stuff), and believe it or not, very much a submissive bottom :p
My spoons are limited, so I may not always have the energy to respond to messages.
Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
