I personally think it doesn't go far enough, but I also recognize that the scope of this particular statement is intentionally limited. This, to me, is only a small step, but one I do encourage people to take.

I hate features that clearly exist because project management refused to let developers implement something properly and instead make users feel bad like they're the ones who are wrong for wanting the feature, actually
where you push a button and instead of doing the thing it says it's going to do it just prompts you with "actually, you should push this other button, instead"

@ben I usually see RimWorld classified as neither, but rather as a 'colony builder' (which seems to be due to its relatively small scale and high granularity, as opposed to typical city builders)

@clarfonthey Also, I am more and more inclined to deal with people telling me to be less aggressive, by asking them when they are going to make their contribution to getting the problem resolved.
Like, if you think that asking nicely works, then surely you are willing to do that work yourself, yes?

Idk who said it first but I find the sci-fi idea that earth *is the spaceship* very compelling. we are on a vessel hurtling through the cosmos that has organically nurtured various forms of life for an extremely long time! @monk Because money never comes with strings, and you really don't want arms dealers involved in your community to begin with - it's basically a guarantee that they will end up using your contributions to kill vulnerable folks.
Money makes it worse; the reason these companies spend money on things like NixOS is because it legitimizes their reputation and serves as a recruitment tool, which makes the world worse for everyone. It's not charity, it's marketing budget.
This is blood money almost as literally as it gets, with all the consequences (moral and practical) that come with it.

@daughterofrao@weirder.earth I don't expect that there will be many low-frustration opportunities - the leadership is not exactly making much room for getting this resolved.
I will toot about it if I find something, but for now it remains pretty much "get involved in the governance discussions on Discourse/Matrix/at conferences/etc., and keep pushing for people to do the right thing".
