@evelyn@misskey.bubbletea.dev That actually seems like a viable option then, if you can pivot from there :p

@evelyn@misskey.bubbletea.dev If you're aiming for "somewhere within Schengen", it may be worth just targeting whichever not-dangerous Schengen country that has the easiest immigration/citizenship requirements, and then moving from there after you obtain citizenship.

@evelyn@misskey.bubbletea.dev Oh, *that* crap, ugh. Sorry, I forgot. Foreign employer sponsorship not an option?

@evelyn@misskey.bubbletea.dev Honestly, with the current "job market", it seems like employers are pretty much ambushing any developer they can find with a job offer. Are you sure that you don't have options without a CS degree? A lot of listings *say* that it's required when it really isn't.

(Aside, it's much worse than "not really a 1:1 match" - from what I've seen there's *almost no* overlap between uni CS and real-world software development)

Looking for a speaker/charity that does intro to LGBTQIA+ talks, focused on trans rights. Got moolah. Does anyone have suggestions?

Advice to new people from Twitter

There have been many waves of exodus from Twitter. When new people arrive they often bring with them their larger-than-life Twitter persona with them. I understand what that's all about, because it's how Twitter trains people to behave if they want to be seen and engage with their audience and so that the timeline algorithm works in their favour.

But here in the fediverse you don't need to put on a big performance. You can be more authentic, and just hang out with friends. Edginess which would be rewarded by the algorithm on Twitter tends to be discouraged here, and might even get you blocked.

#feditips a non-joke one, using image description is very good and almost everyone here does it, if you're new here you should too, accessibility is very important and if you post an image try to make sure that even people who can't see it (at all or well) can tell what you're posting about

@zkat Combination of things, I think. I don't currently have cross-posting set up, but I try to keep the ranty angry stuff over on Twitter, and the more personal stuff over here.

you know how you hate it when the doctor makes unnecessary and snide comments about how your health problems are your own fault or is otherwise gross about your body, or they're basically no help at all? so you avoid going to the doctor to the extent possible?

this is what fossbros are like for computers

@meike @ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt You could always post in two languages

Je kunt altijd nog tweetalig posten :p

I'm pleased to note that even dolphin.town, my Mastodon server where the only letter you are allowed to post is "e", has seen increased activity in the last few days.

Thanks Eeeeelon!
