food (vegan)
@joepie91 It's amazing that some vegan substitutes got so good, that I find eating them disturbing. Few years ago, it was easy to recognize that the burger patty and cheese in my cheeseburger are both vegan. But lately, I had to ask restaurant staff for reassurement that they didn't mess up my order.
First time it happened to me was actually in Netherlands. The cheese in my cheeseburger was really plant based, but it was impossible to guess.

@shine Historical reasons; "veganistisch" is originally the term for "vegan" in Dutch, and it's only fairly recently that this is anything but the most niche diet, whereas "vegetarisch" has been popularly around much longer and so got colloquially abbreviated to 'vega' because it is easier to pronounce than 'vege'

@joepie91 As someone who really likes and is actively trying to learn Dutch, I find the idea of choosing an easier to pronounce variant mildly amusing. (: /jk
