re: :boosts_ok_gay: Designing with adhd (web/graphic/product)

I guess it ties into the much more broadly recognized "new project shiny and exciting", but it affects me even when I don't have to work on the thing, a design that worked just fine for quite some time suddenly feels bad/ugly/unusable

:boosts_ok_gay: Designing with adhd (web/graphic/product)

Fellow designers (broadly) with , do you also run into the issue where new designs are exciting and beautiful, and then you slowly get bored of them and start really disliking the look?

I've ran into this countless times, leading to redesigning blog themes, other web stuff, etc

Anything you found that helps/mitigates this?

- "Wie is je lievelingsvampier?"
- "Die uit Sesamstraat."
- "Die telt niet."
- "Ik kan je verzekeren dat dat precies is wat hij doet."

I've recently built a couple of sites with #11ty (@eleventy) and it's been an absolute pleasure to use. Simple and effective.

Today, I'm introducing my latest project elva. A sustainable, multilingual and clean foundation for your next 11ty project. If you use VSCodium (or VSCode) you'll also enjoy the built in support for Front Matter CMS.

You can grab the code and provide feedback on GitHub. Enjoy!

apparently octopuses see color using their weird pupils to refract light in such a way that it splits up all the wavelengths of light so their single cone can detect it, which means when they see colors, they see rainbows

I've been wanting to do this for over a year now but I did it: I replaced the original greasy water damaged MDF pedestal of my MCH2022 crystal lamp with something more permanent, reusing a leftover piece from my new kitchen. It now actually looks like something that belongs inside the house, instead of outside. And as a nice bonus, my vacuum can now spot it early instead of bumping into it :)

GoToSocial is problematic because when I opened a bug report, all the developers got together and yelled into a glass jar, then screwed the lid on the jar real quick so the yells were trapped inside, then they posted the jar full of yells to me

actually what the fuck is up with Mastodon's documentation straight up having a guide "Playing with public data"

It's like you *want* more shitty scraper projects

ohhh this is cool, I got the slightly more expensive M42 to Canon EF adaptor from aliexpress with an identification chip, and now it does focus beeping (even though it's still a vintage lens with manual focus), and has more accurate exposure in liveview

Hey Science, I need a tube in my kitchen so I can shout "butter, you dickhead" into it and I'll hear that two days ago when I'm standing in the middle of the supermarket thinking "what was I out of again?"

Furthermore, I encourage any FOSS projects who have accounts on fosstodon.org to either move to an instance of their own where feasible or move to a better FOSS oriented instance.

The FOSS community at large deserves better than what fossotodon.org can deliver.

Like do you really want your FOSS project's account on a instance where the admin behaves like *that*? or where it is policy that all posting must be in English.

Last time I checked, FOSS is supposed to be for everyone, not just people who speak English.

Clarification edit - FOSS stands for Free and Open Source Software.
