additional UX issue is needing some kind of client to extract the info from the QR code that services generate, and get it on your device somehow
so HOTP is easier because it doesn't require synced clocks, but superceded by TOTP which does
which im probably way overthinking with untrusting subsystems etc but it'll be a cool (thought) experiment nevertheless, hoping to document it as well
