Someone said some racist shit in my community.
Luckily, I'm a Big Name there and I was able to shut it down and removed them before any BIPOC even had to see it.
But.. it shouldn't have taken me stepping in for everyone to realize it was shitty and to cut them out. It shouldn't have taken someone with social power to put the foot down. If they were the Big Name instead of me, would anything have happened? Would my BIPOC friends have been forced out of my little community?
Hey you, white person reading this. You don't need someone popular to tell you if something is racist or not. You don't need to wait for BIPOC to experience the racism and then tell you if it's racist. Be active. Analyze your behavior and other behaviors. It should NOT be that hard to tell if something is racist if you've been even half-listening to BIPOC at any point in your life.
I'm kinda sick that I have to be the cop in my community now in order to keep this shit from happening.
