walking into work drinking a white monster. getting stopped at the door by my boss who is also a white monster

The biggest stumbling block in the work of prison abolition is the notion that anyone we do not know is a monster without conscience, and that meeting them with a lack of conscience and a gun when things get sticky is preferable to thinking more complexly about them beforehand.

Just wanted to let everybody know that I block Husky users on sight.

@DeltaFlood the world has progressed* past the need** for Christianity

* in like, 400 AD tops
** it was never needed

can't tell if this code actually has this much complexity or im being dumb

Senator Bernard Sanders

I keep seeing people try to circle everything back to Bernie, somehow, and like ya sure some of his policies were good and he was the most ideal candidate, but I think there's two important things we need to remember right now:

1. Bernie's no longer a factor, he's not running and he won't get the delegates to steal the race, don't expend energy on a path that leads nowhere.

2. Bernie's first response to the current protests was that we should give the cops a raise so they can 'attract better cops' basically; he's not the leader we need on this, nor the one we deserve, frankly none of our established leaders are. If the system was going to fix itself, it would have by now, and every politician is as much a part of that system as the cops they empower and protect.

Let's please focus energy on the goals and the cause, and not on specific people if we can, this is a movement without a central leader after all and that's not a mistake.

Security Culture thoughts

Some fun notes on security culture.
If you want to be truly secure about going to a protest, that's almost impossible.
If a random person is livestreaming and a part of a tattoo is somehow visible that paired with the way you walk and move is enough to find out who you are.

So in thinking about security the line I like to think of - what are the extent that I want to be secure

A LOT of people know my name. Im ok with that.
My bike is my mode of transport n it has 1/

i saw some ppl on here posting abt tax software a while ago that was free for people under a certain income level. if you know of good solutions for that (bc i have to deal with two independent contractor things on top of a part-time job for my 2019 taxes), id love to hear about them

fash recruiting tactics, community moderation

If you mod a community, you need to be on the lookout not just for the brazen racists and fash, but the ones who know how to toe the line.

The real dangerous ones are the ones who say things that could be awful fash/racist/hateful shit but just barely could be given the benefit of the doubt.

And they do this a couple of times over months, and you dismiss it as poor wording-- but they're looking for people who don't react with disgust. Then they start working on those people, maybe in private.
