Also: i've since realized Github and Gitlab actually combine their pages server with CI for stuff like Jekyll, I want to look into this but it's dependent on setting up Drone CI for git.pixie.town first
How does #pixie pages work? (not yet, that's how :p)
- Gitea user adds `domains.txt` to their repo/branch for verification
- Site is available at branch.repo.user.pages.pixie.town or similar (with defaults so you can leave out branch.repo.)
- This can also be used to CNAME a custom domain to the same content
- Or a combination of A/AAAA records + TXT because you can't CNAME @
- Upon access, pixie-pages automatically requests TLS certificates from Let's Encrypt to respond

so far none of the gitea related parts are worked on, but it can seamlessly request ACME ssl certificates for *any domain* it's accessed from, which is really cool imo
i can simply browse to *any domain* that points to my server, and it will automagically request an ACME certificate and use that to respond
sub processing https://github.com/letsencrypt/pebble in my testing code for a local acme server, editing the config on the fly so it requests certificates from there
im writing code and it's just so neat

Hey all, I'm leaving my current job due to it not being a very good fit for me. Nothing against them at all, they're great people, it's just not quite the dynamic/structure that I can feel good + productive in. So I'm looking for work and figured why not post it here :)
I'm tobi, non-binary (they/them), mid-30's. I've been doing software development for the last 4 years or so. Before that I was a visiting professor of literature, and before that a literature PhD student.
I like doing complicated backend work creating CI/CD flows, orchestrating containers, and building cool data pipelines. I'm good with Linux + bash scripting, sysadmin stuff, Ansible, Terraform, Go, and I also have a bit of Scala, Python, and Java running in production. I can also do React+Redux development, although I prefer not to.
I really enjoy writing fun little CLI tools and 'glue' components that do small things well. I'm also comfortable working independently for long periods of time on big-ish projects (see GoToSocial -- https://github.com/superseriousbusiness/gotosocial). Whatever I'm doing, it's important to me to feel like my work is useful and valued.
When I'm passionate about something and get into flow I am ridiculously productive. I've been described as incredibly fast at writing good code and building out working systems and APIs. I like listening to heavy music while I'm doing this 🤘
I'm chill, friendly, weird, honest, and straightforward, and people seem to like being around me, which is cool. I have no time for corpo-speak, bullshit, or big egos.
I'm outspoken about things I think are unethical or poorly built, but I try to work on solutions that everyone is content with, rather than focusing on problems and laying blame. I am very ready to accept when I've done something wrong, and I always take it as an opportunity to learn something new.
I'm looking for a position where I can slot into an existing team of good + experienced developers who know what they're doing, because this means i'll get to learn new things and push myself a bit.
Practicalities:
- I'm looking for 60% work so that I have time to focus on my other projects and interests too.
- I need to make at least 1700 euros / month after tax for this to be feasible. I don't care about benefits, perks, company car, company laptop/phone, ping pong table etc 🤷 Literally not a factor. Just give me money and interesting problems.
- Mandatory 9-5 office time is not an option for me. I like working alongside people and seeing people face-to-face, but I don't like being obligated to do so. However if the office is reachable by bike, foot, or public transport I'll happily come to meetings etc irl :)
- I don't want to work with AWS, Azure, Google etc products. Big corporations are killing the planet and making everyone miserable, so I don't want to indirectly put more money in their pockets. No monstrous capitalist behemoths please.
That's it! I think. Shooting for the stars here but let's see.
