ugh to activate my laptop-scraped win10 license (again) i have to login to a microshit account, something I actively avoided during the install and afterwards :|

apparently the SATA card didn't have proprietary connectors, but something called Mini-SAS SFF-8087 (to 4x SATA). They're 100cm long so waay longer than needs to be here, so ordered a 50cm version on aliexpress
molex pc connectors suck
holy shit the M.2 to PCIe adaptor actually works super well!! I have both the 8x SATA expansion card and a GPU in the server now!!
ah shit I totally forgot to listen to death grips
with "a bit fucky" I mean, does not work under windows lol
biggest downside is that bluetooth gets a bit fucky, something with different keys on the same host or something
dual boot with hibernation on the linux side actually goes quite smooth and fast now
