a lot of the debate around defederating seems to place a weirdly sacrosanct value in global, complete federation, and that seems a bit silly tbh. Defederation still allows interaction for individuals, but also there's nothing special or magical about global federation that makes it more worthy of protection that the people being protected by defederation.

I feel like maybe I should write a blogpost/thingie about my perspective on JavaScript. The thing is, I am both a very firm believer that sites should use a minimal amount of JS and degrade as smoothly as possible. On the other hand, I enjoy writing full-fledged web-*applications* with frameworks such as React. I do this because it's by far the most accessible, and nicest to use language for writing such software.
Anyone has good/bad experiences with the Gatsby static site generator? It seems alright
