While we're all posting untagged meta I'd just like to point out that a lot of ableist language gets thrown around fedi and no one ever seems to actually care about that ever.
You could argue "but no one says the r word," but the problem was never the word itself. It was the attitude behind it, the belief that insulting people based on perceived intelligence is at all ok.
That's an attitude fedi has in spades.

@haskal maybe synapse does something bad but, according to the federation spec it will realize messages are missing (because other servers' new messages refer to them) and then try fetch them. Inserts haopen out of order because remote timestamps aren't trusted (and that's a feature tbh, so you actually see them still and can't be used to spoof history that didn't happen)
