a lot of the debate around defederating seems to place a weirdly sacrosanct value in global, complete federation, and that seems a bit silly tbh. Defederation still allows interaction for individuals, but also there's nothing special or magical about global federation that makes it more worthy of protection that the people being protected by defederation.

@anarchiv Keybase is a site (keybase.io) where you can link your accounts on various services, and verify them using your cryptographic keys. Mastodon added a thing a while ago for easy verificating your account, and displaying it on your profile
