re: matrix meta, responding to screenshot-dunking

@mathilde I agree with that, saying you "need to educate FOSS nerds" is a very different thing though

matrix meta, responding to screenshot-dunking

@mathilde thanks for screenshot dunking but this is hardly productive...
Servers need to adhere to the matrix.org CoC as a baseline, and me and others look beyond that to try and keep the list as safe as possible.

@thomasfuchs that.. definitely doesn't have to be the case, even when using React.
I really gotta start a or something oof

@nonphatic wiki.nixnet.xyz/ uses Bookstack which seems quite nice (at least as a reader), and most hackerspaces around here use MediaWiki which works alright

@amolith@masto.nixnet.xyz the (Tusky) default is 500 btw

"A Google employee spoke with the Bay Area Reporter on the condition of anonymity about the current mood among LGBTQ Googlers, saying by phone that, "I'm really worried that they [company leadership] don't know how unsustainable this is. They want to have it both ways: to monetize the engagement that comes from really odious content, but to bear no responsibility for it. And all of us queers who work here see how they're getting away with making money off people who hate us while doing nothing to stop them. Meanwhile, most queer creators' channels are demonetized or marked 'adult' because they use words like 'trans.' Google has no right to be at Pride. They're just capitalists. They don't care."

@amolith@masto.nixnet.xyz something for the wiki as well

Another nice to have when upping the character limits, is also changing it for the /api/v1/instance endpoint, which apps like Tusky parse to do it in their gui.

It's a bit more involved since Mastodon doesn't send this key at all, so you need to add it to the app/serializers/rest/instance_serializer.rb

Add the attribute in the list of attributes, as :max_toot_chars
Then define it next to the other 'def' blocks like

def max_toot_chars
4096
end

Restart mastodon, and Tusky should pick up this change when opening the compose menu :)

swapped out my props from 3 to 4 bladed, and lens guard from PLA to PETG, let's hope she flies even better now :)

and we're back with 4096 toots, 2048 bios and 128 displaynames

Using the info I found, but was only documented by @amolith@masto.nixnet.xyz at wiki.nixnet.xyz/books/masto-tw

@jalcine I feel like those workers might have good intentions, but in a sort of naive way?
Because their centralization, and general buisness practice are huge problems.

It's the "ideal" capitalist buisness model misleading people with good intentions to make them earn the most money for the company
