@carbontwelve you have to slowly sneak up on them or else they scatter

Also re-sharing:

I am working on a Data Protection/Privacy Guide for Instance Admins of Masto/Fedi services modeled after the #GDPR, but many of these considerations apply across other jurisdictions' #privacy laws.

I also have a Privacy Notice Template that others can reference:

Have a look, and I welcome any/all comments, good or bad:

Now on Codeberg!
codeberg.org/privacat/Mastodon

@s0 @fedisearch@social.tchncs.de exactly, seconding this.

@fedisearch that's not sufficient mate. Until you make your service entirely opt-*IN*, per user, you are not gaining consent sufficient to meet GDPR rules or other ethical frameworks. piss off with this idea. it's not new and we continue to not want it.

youtube music changed their icons for no reason and now they're fucked up thin, who signed off on this

i stopped listening for now at 'Too Sad' which is very very fitting

im so tired of mastodon rate limiting me for no fucking reason

@goat@hellsite.site did you see my suggestion it should be a mastodon instead

why doesn't the report dialog allow me to open the moderation interface, after reporting to the remote instance? we have the technology...

thoughts of a techbro

“Hmmm, this software goes out of its way to omit a feature that would be rather easy to provide. It must be because the implementor doesn't know how to do it. I should work around them and assume there's no reason behind that seemingly deliberate choice.”

i'm going to throw a :brick: at all those assholes making fediverse scrapers

@fedisearch@social.tchncs.de you mention
> Our servers participate in the Fediverse via the ActivityPub protocol like any other instance

why are you not federating as fedisearch.io? what domain(s) are you using instead to identify yourself to other servers?

> Our servers always identify themselves with a meaningful "User-Agent" HTTP request header.

What user agent are you actually sending?

Lastly, please remove any social.pixie.town profiles you have stored, profiles who opted out of search indexing, and instances you scraped disregarding their robots.txt and ToS.

@sammy @welshpixie @j2@tech.lgbt they don't federate as fedisearch.io though they do have search results for my instance.. they also note
> Our servers always identify themselves with a meaningful "User-Agent" HTTP request header.

but I don't see anything that would meaningfully identify them in my logs. Definitely seems like a bad actor (or very naive??)

re: god i don't fucking know, lewd i guess?

@tobi I've fanned mine out into a series of interdependent microservices, like god intended
