ok turns out it's not an unpopular opinion at all, bad morning everyone!

Show thread

unpopular opinion but most mornings are bad, actually

@requiem lol okay, sounds like you never (properly) programmed webapps yourself...

@requiem user interface elements like inputs and buttons and file selectors? The native toolkits don't provide much more, it's no wonder developers prefer frameworks like Electron... It makes sense that 'system functions' aren't allowed directly because you can trustlessly access countless applications, sandboxed. It's true the web wasn't *designed* for this, but it certainly *grew* into this, quite well I think

@schratze I used to have my powerstrip on the floor, back when it was just powering my monitors + laptop charger, switched it off with my foot too often, made sure to mount it properly when I got my desktop system there :P

@goat@hellsite.site so what would be the deciding factor, do I feed it silver??

@requiem why do you think it's 'very bad'? Basically all the problems I can think of come down to commercialization/advertising, not due being used as an application platform.

i fucking hate postgres major upgrades, what a pain

system upgrade on terra, mastodon/matrix will be down in a bit but shouldn't be long

uni

i've really gone into minimal effort mode wrt watching lectures etc, we'll see if I pass these two courses but honestly I wouldn't mind that much either way

Show thread

bunch of dislike from other students as well heh, why did they hype this up as "the most interesting lecture of the course" lol
