want to fly today but what supposedly feels like -4 really isn't going to be fun

@doubleDensity ahh but i know nothing about that field, same with modular synth stuff actually

it's currently freezing??
snow predicted for Tuesday but it's probably just going to be a tiny layer again

@der_bluthund is it really "hands-on" and "deep into the actual guts" when it's just plugging in small, encased modules in sodimm slots on a base board

@der_bluthund so why not use virtualization then, instead of lots of duplicated hardware

also can someone explain what the purpose of those raspberry pi/pine64 cluster boards is, like why not get a single piece of real hardware instead

hence why i don't know why i feel so compelled to get something from them

Show thread

yet another day of looking at pine64 stuff and realizing that it's just not powerful enough for any of my usecases..

@vivianrose should be good then :)
2020 is very cool, those are sooo tiny. But with FR4 the support beams for those would be too thin to be durable I think

Hmm you could mount the whole panels on transparent acrylic though, so it gets a lot more support

@vivianrose I think you could do panels that are like 3 strips, with slots in between rows, while keeping the connection on the side.
And then solder a few of those panels together

@vivianrose so unfortunately it seems the 2020 small variants are sold out currently, but normal sizes are. I did it for two previous projects now and works really well with JLC, although it's a bit more process than just pcbs cthu.lu/projects/JLC-2020-12-2

@vivianrose hmm, would you even need flex in there though, normal FR4 could even be pre-assembled with the leds through JLCpcb rather affordable

1 day into vacation and somehow already hit with what am i going to do

@deletescape@notbird.site pls if JLC can just stock the nice amber orange tiny leds aaaa
