Taiwan has a 'digital minister' that actually knows here stuff, and they're setting up ways to combat disinformation (fake news) without censorship, but keeping an eye on when it arises, and fact-checking/providing correct information as fast as possible

my homeserver setup got about a 100% sketchier, but its fine it keeps the temperature down and I have backups

lewd joke

cat goes meow, demon goes "fuck me harder Mommy"

@dukhovni @grainloom yeah, sadly the only useable homeserver implementation is quite heavy still.

Riot has come a long way since though, with their 1.0 release and gui redesign it became a lot nicer to use, and alternative native and web clients (like mine, Neo) are also starting to become viable for useage

@dukhovni @grainloom Id be curious about your gripes with Matrix, as I'm actively trying my best to improve that platform

@Linda I really like the shiny new stuff but they completely botched performance and other shit :/

Wow so apparently if your instance is behind Cloudflare's web application firewall and someone posts something that looks like a Unix filepath you will receive a 403 when trying to send the toot!

Bigotry, call-out

@brainblasted ohh it's this person...
Found that blog when they submitted something to This Week In Matrix, luckily we got it removed...

trying to get my feed populated again by vaguely remembering just enough about people I used to follow to find them again.

My memory's a mess
also the federated TL sucks

@brainblasted @kemonine I have super good experiences with Hetzner, the public-facing part of pixietown runs there. They're also cheaper, so worth taking a look
4Gb/40GB is 6 euros, 8Gb/80GB is 11 a month

@brainblasted what kind of resources are you using and which host are you on rn?

heh. My (old) domain registrar took 36 days to finally respond to my ticket, each time closing it automatically after 7 days with me re-opening it.
I called them, I emailed them, but now they're *finally* responding, giving me my domain for free, (~25$).
In the meantime I already moved to internet.bs, paid a full 25$ transfer fee, and waiting for 60 days to pass since registry so they can actually transfer it...

@vecna Someone still might benefit from the ideas in the code, or be able to adapt it

I did a quick braindump for a general feature, that could be implemented in Neo first:

Please leave your thoughts here or on the pad :)

Totally serious, I do think it is a Good Thing that #mastodev is polluted with a bunch of LGBTQ shitposts because it reminds developers who use the platform. It might even result in some follows and softening of hearts on the side of the tech bros!!

alc mention

on the bike I had some thoughts for when I came home. Either I go to bed, or take some shots and program till morning light (it's 3am)

I think this plum gin has decided my fate

I'm pretty sure just throwing up your statically generated site on a random provider would be more energy efficient because it doesn't have to go through 's surveillance apparatus....
