@hankg So, if you look at this thread: mastodon.social/@ifixcoinops/1

Then it *looks* like the last toot in the thread is somewhere around mastodon.social/@ifixcoinops/1

But if you actually go there, you'll find that the thread is actually much longer, and the only way to see the *full* thread is to go to the last toot and scroll back: mastodon.social/@ifixcoinops/1

@joepie91 huh? if I open the first link I can see a gigantic thread, and scroll down all the way to the bottom?

@f0x Here it only runs up to Feb 28, 2021, but the thread is way way longer in reality

@joepie91 ohh I just realized i'm still logged in on a m.s test account, so the api can fetch more context in the thread, that's probably related

Follow

@joepie91 not logged in it's much shorter, iirc non-authenticated /context is limited to 50 toots

@f0x In practice this means that you just cannot link people to longer threads without a lot of scrolling hassle (whereas previously you could)

@joepie91 yeah, the api should convey it's a truncated response, and the frontend show a 'load more' or whatever
