if your first response is some language snark, keep it to yourself
re: if this is subposting me
@ckie not specifically subposting you, more people have a habit of doing this.
that's still exactly the kind of knee-jerk i ment though, it's a nonsensical response too because like?? this is a microcontroller-targeted independent javascript runtime. how does chromium even come into the equation here.
re: if this is subposting me
@f0x it's mostly emotional frustration at the prospect of having a big node_modules for future embedded projects i hack on.
since i am quite invested in the current hyperlegacy pile of Stuff with all of its quirks, change is a scary prospect. not about my own projects but contributing to big ones and not being able to think "i want to see this variable" and be recompiling a version with some printfs without a single thought which has taken a while to build up the {muscle mem, environment} for
(i think the knee-jerk is a mechanism for expressing that (among other things) - i'm upset i didn't just say that upfront but oh well. not doing so great.)
if this is subposting me
@f0x it wasn't about the language, it was about the ecosystem and the inevitability of mid-range RC cars running a chromium somewhere one day. i do not produce twitter sized hot takes.
