so far;
- nfs share to arx' big cloud storage (1TB)
- vpn exit for cosmos
- wipes their root filesystem every boot, only keeping carefully managed state
- zfs snapshots for backup, only keeping that opt-in state, 4.79 kB currently
nfs really isn't great... now my shutdown is waiting on 1m30 timeout for it too... I didn't even touch that mount
boot is a looot quicker without DHCP :) 11 seconds to login

the erase-on-boot is based on https://grahamc.com/blog/erase-your-darlings which is what eventually(tm) all my NixOS systems will progress towards (and thus, all my systems, eventually)
