When I started on Mastodon, people would advise me to “only Boost posts.” Since there’s no algorithm that places a value on Favorites, “only Boosts have value.”

I disagree completely.

When people Favorite my posts, they unwittingly introduce themselves to me. I have discovered some very interesting people that I may not have if they didn’t Favorite my posts.

I'm a Canadian hobby artist who produced a daily webcomic back in 1999, but now I'm much older and I just want to draw cute women. I draw all-ages stuff, but also 18+ stuff which goes behind a content warning and is always tagged "# lewd" (if you need to block it).

But my interests are varied (and I'm easily amused) so my account is a real smörgåsbord. Feel free to turn off my boosts, or you can just follow my art hashtags: "# JSSArt" and "# JSSLewd"

I've read that some users are vowing to leave the #Fediverse because they are on a server that has agreed to federate with #Meta's #Threads app, or they're on a server that has not made their position clear on whether they'll federate with Meta.

I'd recommend reading https://fedipact.online to find 418 servers that have pledged to block Meta you can migrate to, though not all are open for registration. Among the biggest are pixelfed.social, mastodon.nl, mastodon.art, pixelfed.de, and others!
