If you recently bought a Gigabyte power supply, it may be at risk of exploding. Newegg has been selling these power supplies in bundles with high-end graphics cards to try and liquidate e-waste stock.
From what we understand, the safety mechanism that's supposed to shut it down if there's an unsafe spike in usage (Over Power Protection, OPP) didn't kick in until serious damage was already done.

As of yet, Gigabyte has opted to issue an update to lower the OPP threshold rather than issue a recall.

Huh TIL Discord lets you do <t:{epoch_time}> in a message and it'll auto-convert to local time for each recipient.
That's neat, and of course it's not documented anywhere really.

If you haven't been keeping an eye on the weather, the heat wave rolling in today is different from the last! Last time was "easy" mode, with exceptional heat but low humidity. From noon today (8/11) through Saturday evening (8/14) we're forecast for extreme heat AND humidity.
This is weather that kills people! Even young, healthy, fit people. The Pacific NW hasn't yet internalized cultural adaptations for weather like this, which means individuals need to intentionally keep ourselves safe while 'common sense' lags reality.
Productive day today, though I mostly kind of hit that fugue state at like 9 in the evening and didn't let up until after midnight
Doing NES-style stuff makes me wanna plug in that TV already...
