I sometimes see people complaining about their experience on one ‘social media’ platform being terrible as opposed to another, and someone else will have had a different experience. And I think a lot of it’s down to how you curate your feed. For example; I principally follow illustrators here on Mastodon, so my feed is largely… wait—Why is it all rainbow Linux? WHY IS IT ALL RAINBOW LINUX?!?

I now have replaced Microsoft Office with #LibreOffice, the free, open source office package. And it works much better than the microsoft software, it does not force strange formatting and does not contain AI modules. Even makes pdf documents. All I need in my small business.

folks in the US, please be aware of the seedy flip side of seasonal retail trends.

retailers are rushing to cycle out old stock. unfortunately in most locations, these items are deposited behind the store in unlocked waste containers. household items, electronics, clothing and food are carelessly left out in the cold.

in towns, smaller cities and suburbs especially, there isn't much of an effort made toward security for these waste containers. no one's tracking their contents and really, anybody could come and take that stuff. for free.

what a shame it would be if that happened.

Now other nations are looking into the extraordinary pressure and whether it might not be prudent to let a USA-aligned corp handle citizens' most private data (medical, tax, residence, assets, etc).

we must have made them very nervous, since lawmakers in Germany and UK are questioning the contracts. It is possible that authorities are hesitating to sign new contracts. So we have triggered something that they are starting this PR campaign against us (I don't remember another media company being mentioned on their blog).
