Hey, Seattle retro tech folks! If you see someone offloading a bunch of CPS2/Naomi/Neo Geo PCBs, please reach out to Gamecenter down in Kent - they just had their truck hijacked and a bunch of boards, original marquees, and other parts stolen from them kiro7.com/news/local/game-over

Does anyone have any recommendations for a Mastodon app on iOS?

I've tried the official app but I'm having scroll issues among other UX quirks that aggravate me.

Bonus points if I can post without paying an IAP.

I did a thing.

I’ve had a long-standing love of stickers on laptops. I know a lot of you do too! So I built a site to highlight them. At Hope next week I’ll take as many pics (with permission) of the best stickered laptops I can find and post them.

It’s always sad when a laptop gets upgraded, the old one tossed, and that sticker canvas is lost. I’m trying to preserve it.

Please submit pics of your laptops so I can “seed the tip jar,” as it were.

I'm looking for a new job in game development. I'm a software developer with experience working with artists and musicians. I can design and build systems, and can also do simple 3D+animations and music.
Any leads would be appreciated.

#AskFedi: Long shot, but: anyone have an old Trust Soundforce1200 speaker set? The ~2000 era beige boxes with the wooden subwoofer. It doesn't need to function perfectly or even necessarily be complete. I need replacement parts for mine...

(Yes I know it's old, no I haven't found any speaker set that can replace it to my standards, no anything Logitech isn't an option. If you know this specific speaker set and the unique sound it produces, and have a recommendation for a suitable modern replacement, it would be very welcome though! But no generic purchasing recommendations please.)

I'm going back to bed before my DVD screensaver braincell hits a corner again

Advice for community managers:

Use the Olivia Hill rule.

It's surprisingly easy to enforce:

Fascists get really upset and will talk to you about why the rule is bad.

You then ban them.

That's it, that's all the work it takes!

Hypothetically: if there was a service offering after-market open-hardware sodium-ion batteries for old laptops at a reasonable price, would you be interested in buying them and, if so, how many? I'm talking about old Thinkpads and such. Information about the specific devices would also be useful.

A recent experiment. I made an "ascii automata" which on click places a random glyph, then analyzes if the character "touches" any of the glyph edges, then places another random character which continues the edge connection, and so forth, until it places a character that doesn't touch any edges. I made it so that you can mix and match different character sets from the dropdown menu (or load your own as png).

You can play with it at:

PSA can dent safety

A much better visual guide than ones I've seen elsewhere. Includes examples of edge cases and how to determine one way or the other. larimer.org/sites/default/file A good resource for the current times.

Where can I find a good example schematic for an opamp circuit that mixes two line level stereo audio signals? Preferably using only one IC.
