Hey friends, if you want to #sync data easily without using centralized services, look at #SyncThing. It's an open source #FileSynchronization service that sends data directly between devices. You can have your laptop back-up to your phone and vice versa, it supports encryption, there are no limits, AND it's free!

I'm using it to sync my laptop and phone to my home server, but I also have my laptop and phone backing up to each other, so if my home server goes down, I'm not SOL.

NOTE: I changed "backup" to "sync", because as many people rightfully pointed out, this isn't really backing up your files. It's just copying them to different devices. You can configure file versioning, but it's not 100% identical to true backup. Just be mindful, and maybe make a copy of your folders before adding them!

🌠 Hey yall, we are 100% willing to help folks get set up in Illinois. We can't like, pay for things, but we can help with executive shit like planning, finding housing, random little logistics, moving help on this end, etc.

Illinois has been pretty committed to protecting its trans population so far:
* Changing your name is pretty simple and can be free if you're poor. Both people in our household have gotten our names changed here.
* Changing your gender/sex marker on an Illinois DL is a simple consent form, no other requirements.
* IL courts will help you get your out of state birth cert updated.
* Trans people are a protected minority here.
* Trans healthcare exists and is pretty normal here, may city areas have local informed consent clinics in addition to Planned Parenthood, FOLX, etc.
* Chicago housing is intensely expensive, but IL outside of Chicago is relatively cheap.

If you're scared and need a friend in a safe state, you have one in us. Just give us a DM. We can't fix things and we aren't a therapist, but we can give you direction and friendship if you need it.

When an article says "some scientists think" then remember this: I, a scientist, once thought I could fit a whole orange in my mouth. I could, it turns out, get it in there, but I hadn't given sufficient thought to the reverse operation. 🧵

The storm was easily the worst by far. Happy birthday, a tree nearly fell through the wall where your head was!

Been playing Sonic Heroes lately and then I had the thought that the #dungeongals would more or less fit as a team. Hope the gote is a good runner though. :P
